HAROLD LEEP CLASSIC PRESENTED BY SUCHY TRANSMISSIONS
Friday at Outlaw Motor Speedway

Tulsa OK (August 22, 2016) - The Harold Leep Classic presented by Suchy Transmissions is one of the biggest events on the Ameri-Flex / OCRS schedule and this special event takes place this Friday night at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Oktaha Oklahoma. This event honors of one of the greatest open wheel racers of all time. Leep, who is a member of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, passed away in 2014. Leep's legacy as a champion driver will live on forever. One of the more remarkable achievements in his career was in 1969 when Leep won 3 championships in a single season. The tracks were Tulsa Speedway, State Fair Speedway (Oklahoma City) and 81 Speedway (Wichita KS.).

One of Leep's car owners throughout the years was Pat Suchy who had a successful transmission / automotive repair business. Suchy is also being honored hence his former business as the presenting title sponsor. As with last years running of the HLC, there will be additional cash on the line as the drivers will be racing for an extra $2500 that will be distributed in increments to the top 3 drivers per lap. These funds have been raised by a variety of sponsors who wish to assist in making the HLC the great event that it is. In the 2015 edition of the HLC, Zach Chappell won over $1,000 in lap money alone despite loosing the race to Whit Gastineau who collected a good deal of lap cash himself that night.

As if all this wasn't big enough, there is the series championship point battle in play where Gastineau leads defending Ameri-Flex / OCRS champion Robert Sellers by just 9 points. Chappell sits third just 45 points behind Gastineau and only 36 points behind Sellers. With only 5 events left on the schedule, there is no room for error for these drivers and with 3 drivers so closely locked together, it is possible the fight for the Harold Leep Championship trophy will go down to the final event.

NUTZ n' BOLTZ

Hustlin' The Highbanks:
Shayla Waddell's victory last Saturday night was her second Ameri-Flex / OCRS victory of her career. Waddell banked $1500 for the win, her largest sprint car payday. The team borrowed a motor from car owner Paul Johnson just to make the show as their own motor is in need of service. Waddell's first career win was also at the Highbanks in 2012. The track suits Waddell well as the young lady now has a career total of 7 top ten finishes on the fastest track on the schedule. What is amazing is the fact of those seven top tens, six of those are top fives!

Paying Tribute To BC:
Brett Wilson paid a cool tribute to Bryan Clauson by sporting a large picture of BC in his Cancer Treatment of America number 17 car on the top nose wing of the Wilson Gang Artworks number 53 sprinter. We are all going to miss BC and the gesture made by the Wilson camp was quite sincere and heartfelt.

Almost Like Last Time:
Chance and Kade Morton returned to Ameri-Flex / OCRS action for the first time since a Labor Day weekend event at the Caney Valley Speedway last year. In that race at Caney, Chance was 7th and Kade 10th. In last Saturday's event at the Highbanks, Chance was once again 7th (from 15th) and Kade was 11th (from 21st). Just one spot of being identical. Ya'll come back now ya hear?

More Ford Power:
When Joseph Miller brought his Ford motor out a few weeks ago, he became the only Ameri-Flex / OCRS regular to have a Ford under the hood. Lawton Speedway regular Nick Bates uses a Ford and competes with the series when his schedule allows. Last Saturday, Steve Smith had a Ford in his car from the Kevin Pickard camp and registered his first top 10 finish with the series with it. Is this now a Ford invasion in the making?

Being Lucky Is A Wonderful Thing:
Whit Gastineau was the Action Auto Collision Hard Charger at Salina having finished 4th from 16th. He needed that charge to hold onto the point lead for the chase of the Harold Leep Championship Trophy. Gastineau can thank his lucky stars he didn't wind up seeing stars on the way home. Upon general post race maintenance, Gastineau found severe stress cracks in one of the front wheel hubs that could have sent him on a space shuttle ride. Of course its not a good thing to have your hub snap at speed, but the Highbanks is the one place you dont want snapping wheel hubs. Skills are good to have, Luck is sometimes better.
