Changing the invert to 6 is going the WRONG way.
Putting faster cars on the front row of the heat will make it even harder for the guy starting 6th to make a move.
They need to go back to inverting 10. There is a pretty big difference in lap times between the cars that time 31-40 vs the cars that time 41-50. Having those slow cars on the front row held up the field long enough for the fast guys to make a move in the first couple laps.
It wasn't uncommon to see the guys starting 9th and 10th pass 5 or 6 cars in the first lap before they got strung out.
Johnny Gibson and the WoO want to turn it into another boring WoO show where quick time can win the whole shebang without passing a single car all week long. Car counts and ticket sales would drop like a rock.

The reason they should invert 8 is because the quicker times got to time trial early when the track was fast on most nights. So by inverting 8 you give the guys that timed later a chance to even score. The guys that timed early still get the most points to start with. You can not let quick times start on pole and up front, this is the Nationals not a charity race.

Holy crap. It took a multitasker to keep track of where Larson was and watch that battle up front. I found myself trying to watch both and it was tough. You're right though. Larson has not been mentioned much because of the result of the race, but he was a rocket ship Saturday night. Would u agree with me that he was probably the fastest car on the track? He started 11th after the break and with about 2 or 3 to go, he made a pass for 5th and was coming out of 4 when Jason was in the middle of 1 and 2. He passed 6 cars and lost a straightaway. Incredible!

True. I've only been going to sprint cars for 7 yrs, & still learning how to watch a race. This year I missed Nationals live, & the trouble with PPV is that you can only see the cars that the cameraman focuses on, you can't follow your favorite drivers, good battles or runs from the back. The Cushion was OK, we got to witness battle for 1st, but missed Hodnett & Larson's charges thru the field entirely.
Same with video of Lanco midget race posted here recently. Couldn't watch Thorson fight back from last, only saw him take the lead at the end.....

Thats why the keyboard commandos review of the racing when they only watch on the internet (not including you in this population) should be taken lightly as to how good a race was.
Also, folks who seem not to be able to watch anything but the leader, or folks who seems to be longing or the days of a "big 3" while igoring the fact that the last few years have produced a couple of the best Knoxville Nationals A Mains ever should also be slightly discounted.
