Great show John, best of the year.
I'm not a big fan of the tracks taking money from Hoosier either when tires are one of the biggest expenses our race teams face. They should have just made the tires $150 a piece instead. Is the difference truly going towards additional point funds is the million dollar question? If it is, they're innocent. If not, their hands are a little dirty.
Regardless however, anyone who truly believes that Hoosier breaking out an old mold (at the behest of the Unified Sprint Car Summit) and building a PROVEN ten year old tire is bad for racing is WAY out in left field. How was racing ten years ago then on the same damn tire...lol? And if less grip makes for worse racing how do the wingless cars manage, or better yet why do our promoters HAVE to make it slick so there can be a race at all? The same people complained last year that they could only pass once the track slowed down. Most people say the new tire doesn't even make a lick of difference anyway. Lap times tend to agree. I wonder how ASCS is managing with their smaller tire?
Sounds like the biggest statement of the night was that all this stuff should have been better publicized throughout the year. I don't think they should force a wing change next year either. It's too late. The little guys who can least afford it, the ones they're trying to help, will be the worst hit. They should wait until 2009.
They don't even know how to spell sprint car

I would expect an announcement in the near future that will address when the wing rule will take effect. I'm thinking it will be something like July, 2008 when all is said and done. Again, it's just my educated guess after talking to several track and series people but things could always change.
I would agree with the comment about how little publicity was given the Unified Summit this year. I think that is why there has been some confusiuon and conflict surrounding the wing rule decision. I think that will be rectified.
It's important to note that what has come from the Pittsburgh Summit the last two years is not a World of Outlaws edict, but something that has been agreed to by the track and series representitives in an effort to better the sport. It's very important, therefore, that these people all stay on the same page.

After listening two times to the show, I ask myself one question.
WHY are the PA folks upset with the new rules when they have not even been made or announced yet?
