From Pilot Raceway news.com

The Jackson County Race Committee will likely announce their choice for a new Jackson Speedway promoter at the next commission meeting, scheduled for Dec. 26.

Loren Tusa, who serves on the committee, said they had hoped to have an announcement ready by now but the final negotiations are still taking place.

"We are in negotiations on the lease," he said. "The financial and criminal background checks have been done, allowing this person to go ahead with negotiations."

Tusa said the committee interviewed three individuals and narrowed the process to one they liked. They are looking at a three-year lease for the facility, which was left without a promoter when J.P. and Sabre Karopowicz resigned last fall, citing a poor financial model as the reason for their departure.

Tusa assured those present that sprint cars will be a part of next year's program.
"Eliminating sprint cars was not an option," he said. "We realize that's what makes the Jackson track."

"The things we stressed were the sprint cars and the consistency in the program," said Commissioner Craig Rubis, who also served on the committee.

Glad to see they are making some progress. Heard thru the grapevine of a few sprints that may not be back next year, the champ included. Knoxville bound?? Can't say that I would blame them, 2 years in a row they don't see what was supposed to be there at end of the season. Hope they get things worked out, I would make the trip over again IF they get it sorted out.

On the NMRA board, they are saying Houseman is going to be the promoter again..... PLEASE say it isn't so........... many feel that's where the problems started!!!
