Group of 8 leaving from PA on the 4th, picking 2 up in OH along the way. Heading to the I-55 weekend in Peveley, then heading to the North Campground in Knoxville on Sunday for the rest of the week. It will be my 3rd Nationals, 2nd trip like this, and taking my 8 year old son for his first "racecation." Praying for good weather and no doubt will be a great 9 days.

How are the campgrounds? Been going for about 10 years and never been in the knoxville campgrounds. Pretty well kept? Low key or party central?
|
North Campground Well kept, Shower house very handy, Not as wild as it was 20 years ago but there is still plenty of fun to be had.
County campground out by the High School I'm not sure. Have heard it is a little more quiet. We have stayed here a ew times during the weekly shows and it is nice and quiet and a playground or the kids to go and play.

I will start the weekend off at Pevely for the Iron Man then to Knoxville for the Cappy Classic, then all 4 nights of the Nationals. Best week of the year!

Camping at Red Rock and this will be 34th in a row. I have missed some qualifying nights in the past due to work but have never missed a Saturday.
Who has the longest Nationals attendance streak going?
|
This will be my 36th consecutive. (have been lucky enough to attend every year since I was 6).
I know there are many in attendance that have made 40+ in my section alone. Luckily, have gotten to sleep in my own bed everynight the last 21 years.

I'll be coming in late on the 5th. Staying at Vondonslers. It'll be me, my girlfriend, my son and my uncle. Made all 10 days last year but will miss the first two nights of the 360's.

Always eagerly anticipate the annual Knoxville Nationals and this will be my 34th in a row. The racing is just a plus but the real attraction to this event is the people you meet to make new friends and getting together with old friends. This year will probably be no exception to the final on Saturday night which, after the qualification nights, is rather a ho hum race with probably Donny Schatz winning. It might just be me but I am thinking the whole Knoxville National thing has kind of been in a slump or at least sliding downhill since Ralph Capitani retired. Is it just me or do others sense this? Everybody have a good time and obey the police and drive carefully coming to and going back home from the Knoxville Nationals.
|
Have to agree with your assumption - I, after many years, only attend qualifying nights now - if results after qualifying would peak my interest, I could opt for internet feed in the comfort of my living room.

Attended My first Nationals in 1978, have not missed one since, so this year will be 38 years straight. Leaving North Central South Dakota Sunday for the Cappy, Front Row, and all of the Nationals. Have seen a few changes through the years, Can't wait to get there! Wish the USAC boys were still running on Tuesday!

Okay it's 10 days before the start of Iowa Speed Week 2016. How many Hosers are going this year? I will heading out as early as I can on Thursday the 4th. Can not wait. Christmas in August.
Any other Hosers staying at North Campgrounds? I don't get around to as many walk abouts as I use to but we still try to venture out and do a little visiting once in a while.
Gotta try to catch the infamous BHG when they are in full swing, missed them the last year or two. Just have to remeber to keep telling myself, "Stay away from the Lemonade"! That stuff is Evil! Lmao
|
This will be 17 in a row and 21 of last 22. Been staying in DSM/Altoona every year. Love every trip. Even if Schatz plans to win every race until the end of time.
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa....Knoxville, Iowa.

48th consecutive for me and 18th consecutive for my son. Not going to be able to make it until Friday, though, unless we get rained out at work, and then I'll try to make at least one of the qualifying nights. If we don't work Saturday of the 360 Nationals, I'm going to try and make that, too.

First one in 1983. Have only missed once since. Hoping to make the Saturday night finale of the 360 Nats and everything after that. Since MSPN isn't coming I guess I'll be the only one rooting for the posse! jk

I'll be at the Pa. midget shows too... Path Valley is my fave, drive around the back roads if you get a chance, beautiful countryside. I always go swimming at Cowens Gap Lake before the races, about 20 minutes away.....

First one for me. Bringing my dad. Living out a dream for both of us. Can't wait to experience this spectacle. Should be there in time for the final night of the 360 Nats and then all the way thru the 410 Nats.

From Seattle. We have both always wanted to do this. Dad raced back in the 50's. I have been racing 360's since '84 and just stepped out of the seat this year, so it gives me the opportunity to go to the Nats. My son is now the guy in our car. Told my dad at Christmas that I was taking him to the Nats and he just about fell over.

It seems like the last time the Saturday night race sold out was around the time that Cappy retired. Not sure if that's a coincidence or not. It will be interesting to see if this year's attendance is up with Kendra there for the first time and lower gas prices.
This will be my 32nd in a row. I've been going for all 10 days since they moved the 360 Nationals to the week before. The best recent changes have been the addition of the Capitani race - the best race of the year anywhere for the ticket price - and the reformatting of the Friday night program.
I stayed in a tent during my early years before staying in homes I found through the Chamber of Commerce and on this message board. I highly recommend this type of lodging to anyone considering it.
