Do you think Shryock can loose 2 titles in the same year??? When Jason Krohn won this year's USMTS National Title at the conclusion of The Hunt, it was the first time ever -- of all nine years -- that some one other than Kelly won the championship.

Now there are 4 Okies -- Randy Timms, Greg Skaggs, Jason Hughes (this year's national runner-up to Krohn) and Tommy Weder, Jr. -- chompin' at the bit to be the first USMTS SOUTHERN Series champion but they are all chasing Shryock again!!!

2007 USMTS National runner-up Jason Hughes scored the $20,000 win at the U.S. Western Nationals in Tulare, CA last night. Teammate and fellow Okie Tommy Weder, Jr. was third. You can catch those two and a host of others at the USMTS Southern Series races this Friday and Saturday night at Enid Speedway Park in north central Oklahoma. Jason & Tommy are currently 4th & 5th in USMTS Southern Series points and we're down to 11 points races left.

Here's some more results from last night's race in California:

1. #12h Jason Hughes - Colcord, OK
2. #2 Bobby Hogge IV - Salinas, CA
3. #02 Tommy Weder, Jr. - Woodward, OK
4. #83 Kellen Chadwick - Oakley, CA
5. #75 Alan Sharpensteen - Amarillo, TX
6. #111 Bumper Jones - Las Cruces, NM
7. #1b Tim Balding
8. #m2 Rich Denman - Crossville, TN
9. #18 Robert Miller - Chico, CA
10. #0eh Steve Arpin - Rochester, MN
11. #1st Johnny Scott - Las Cruces, NM

17. #44s Bobby Smith, Jr. - Atlus, OK
18. #7n Jay Noteboom - Hinton, IA

23. #0d Jon DeBenedetti - Medford, OR
24. #51 Eddie Martin - Stillwell, OK
25. #131 Royal Jones - Las Cruces, NM

If anyone knows what the support classes will be at Enid, please post.

Did he do it or is someone pulling our leg (or they just got the name wrong?) on those results?  There was like 130 cars there and from what I read, they had he11 with the track surface!

HUGE FIELD EXPECTED WHEN USMTS SOUTHERN SERIES RETURNS TO ENID THIS WEEKEND

ENID, Okla. (Oct. 1) -- The O'Reilly Auto Parts United States Modified Touring
Series National Events schedule has closed the curtain on the 2007 season, but the
USMTS Southern Series is just beginning to heat up.

This Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6, the USMTS Southern Series will headline a
doubleheader at Enid Speedway Park in Enid, Okla., for the inaugural Oklahoma Fall
Nationals. The two-day event will showcase many of the top Modified drivers from
throughout America's heartland. Friday's main event winner will earn $2,000 while
Saturday's top dog will pocket $3,000.

Each night, race fans will be treated to some great Modified racing with heat races,
consolations and a feature event, along with local support classes.

Eight-time O'Reilly USMTS national champion Kelly Shryock of Fertile, Iowa, swept
both ends of the event in March when the USMTS Southern Series last invaded Enid,
and he'll be looking to add the first-ever USMTS Southern Series title to his list
of accomplishments as he comes into the Enid clash as the USMTS Southern Series
points leader. Four Oklahoma pilots round out the top-5 in the rankings, with
Wheatland's Randy Timms in second, followed by Greg Skaggs of Bixby, Jason Hughes of
Colcord and Woodward's Tommy Weder Jr.

Other superstars expected to challenge for a spot in victory lane this weekend
include Steve Holzkamper, Zack VanderBeek, Rodney Sanders, Jamie Burford, Scott
Green, Brandon Morton, Bobby Malchus, Dena Wilson, David Mitchell, Steven Whiteaker
Jr., Michael Robertson, Johnny Bone Jr., Brandon Kenny, Sean Jones, Derek Ramirez,
John Allen, Willy Kraft, Jeremy Chambers, Chad Wheeler, Nathan Sugg, Mike Roach,
Eddie Martin, Jeremy Ross and more.

Local talent is top-notch as Enid Speedway Park, as, Curtis Allen, Brendon Gemmill,
Jim Ciampi, Joe Adams, Randy Sallee, Dale Wanger, Dusty Robbins, Pat McVicker, Greg
Burt, Allen Knott, Terry Johnson, Rodney Johnson, Jon Herring, James Longpine, Troy
Gemmill, Kip Hughes, Cody Gearhart, Darren Hacker, Kelly Wheeler and more will look
to defend their home turf.

More than 60 drivers competed in the USMTS Southern Series event at Enid Speedway
Park, March 30-31.

Gates open at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 5:30 and racing starts at 7 both days.

All USMTS rules will apply. American Racer is the Official Tire of the USMTS, and
any driver seeking to receive USMTS Southern Series points and/or contingency awards
must use the American Racer KK-704 racing tire. The Hoosier G60 tire will also be
allowed for this race, but must be mounted on all four wheels with no grooving
allowed.

The Enid Speedway Park is located 2.5 miles north of U.S. Hwy. 412 on U.S. hwy. 81,

How many cars are expected? 81 Speedway in Wichita is having their fall classic the same weekend, and I think they are paying $5000 to win. So I am just wondering how many cars will go there instead. Besides the Gemmills? Just wondering. Trying to figure out which show would be the best to go to since they are about the same driving distance. LETS GO RACIN!!

Don't know what to tell you on that one. Enid averaged around 60 cars at the USMTS shows there back in March.

What's the tire deal like in your neck of the woods? USMTS allows the American Racer KK704 and the Hoosier IMCA G60. Will that have an effect?

I honestly think they will have close to 60 cars at Enid but safe bet would be 50 I would think. Wichita should get between 40-45 cars BUT all is a guesstimate on my part. One can never predict what drivers are going to do until you see them there.

Enid weather looks great as well.  Still plenty hot!  90 for a high on Friday!  More reasonable 86 on Saturday and like all the other midsouth races, slight chance of a shower on Saturday.  They say no chance for Friday though and that one -- like 99% of all USMTS shows -- is a one day, pay that night, $2000 to win complete Modified show (passing point heat races, B-mains and A main), $200 to start, $250 to start for USMTS licensed drivers!
