5 high profile teams got cought "tire doping" couple weeks ago at Eldora, my question is, would sprintcar teams benefit from this? and if so why isn't anyone checking? or is it not illegal to to do so?

It is illegal in Sprint Cars as well, and yes they could benefit from it. I can't answer you on how they're monitoring it though. If it passes the durometer test and they don't see obvious signs of doping, like a funny smell or liquid running down the sidewalls, I would say nobody is checking. Maybe somebody with a little more inside knowledge knows for sure. Do you know what tipped off the officials at Eldora? Did they test for a certain chemical somehow?

I was at the Dream race. For the big late model shows they take samples from the top few teams of each feature (prelim nights as well as main night) and some random ones are pulled also. I think 32 samples were sent to lab and these 5 failed. They are suspended from UMP/ World of Outlaws late models for three mmonths. They can still run the Lucas series races but will miss some big $ shows including the World 100 at Eldora in September.

When say that they "took a sample", do you mean that they took the entire tire and sent it off for testing?
I wonder if this was something coordinated with Hoosier by UMP or if the track took the iniative (meaning spent the money) , either way....good job Eldora.

I think they just took a chunk out of each tire when it came off the track and then it was bagged and tagged to be sent to the lab. I think it is stan procedure for WoO/UMP big $ shows. I know WoO busted someone for winning one of their tour races in north carolina a couple months ago. Willie Milliken is his name.

Yes I was around in the old days,360 racing at Knoxville in 80s and 90s. People used to place the right rear in a big garbage big with some juice of the teams disign, let it bake in the hot sun for days, most of the time it came out nice and soft, with the small wings and real hard tires ? Db 13 i think was so hard, but it helps for sure

I'm sure it if late model guys are doing it, it is pretty rife in sprint car racing as well. Hopefully this triggers some testing in the sprint car ranks

In regards to the sprint cars and tire doping, I was at Sharon Speedway for the All Star Speedweek show and I attended the drivers meeting. Tony Stewart started the meeting addressing tire doping and basically stated that there is nothing that cannot be detected. He was emphatic in stressing to the drivers to refrain from treating the tires and to also be careful of who you are buying tires from. He also stated that if you are suspended from the All Stars for tire doping you will also be suspended for the same time period with the World of Outlaws and vice versa. Tony really spoke at length on this issue and made it very clear about following the rules which to me sounds like both organizations will be monitoring this potential problem.

If I understand it correct the Late Model tire durometer around a 55 to 60. So they wanted the around a 30 to 40 so you dope the tires.
A WoO tire is a 25 compound and barely lasts a main of 35 laps. Why dope them?

Some stuff makes tires not over heat and last longer.
