Actually really shocked that there is no current thread on this. Tonight is the night! I see Christopher Bell will be running, and it appears Rico will be running as well. I know there will probably be 8-10 IRA drivers heading down, and who knows how many MOWA/Knoxville/Other invaders showing up. Anyone know of non WoO drivers coming for this show?

Every asphalt to dirt conversation race I've seen has had a God awful racing surface. They should have started watering last month for this thing.

Hey... an all open wheel show on a Wednesday in an event that may never ever happen again? Count me in to check it out. Trying to stay positive. From the pictures I have seen, the track looks great. Its all going to depend on how this "Illinois River Clay" holds up. Most places in Illinois dry out pretty quickly. Hoping the same doesnt happen tonight. Going to support these two great series either way!

Never been to Rockford. How does it compare in terms of size and banking to Slinger??

I haven't been to either in quite a while. But from my memory, I believe Slinger is a little higher banked, and possibly just a tiny bit smaller. Slinger also has the backstretch banked. Rockford is your pretty typical shaped over, banked corners, flat straights.
I actually just looked it up. Slinger is 33 degree banking, and Rockford is 22 degree banking

Never been to Slinger but Rockford is a tight little quarter miler built I think in 1948 specifically for midgets. It is almost a clone of the Anderson, Indiana Speedway and the WoO should be a great show on that track.

I agree on all fronts. I just checked and Anderson has 17 degree banking. They are about the same shape. I was originally worried about how narrow the racing surface is when its pavement, but seeing the pictures of it with dirt on it, that may not be an issue. If they push the cushion up to the wall, it could be a great night of racing. Its always fun to see professionals as good as the Outlaws all on a new track for the first time. Watching the guys really search around to find the best line around it. Just when you think someone has it down, someone else swoops in and shows a faster way around. Im excited for the show! These are also the kinds of events you could see a darkhorse be competitive

My money is on Steve Kinser making a surprise appearance tonight and destroying the field of cars in true Kinser fashion. Doesn't he have an ungodly stastic somewhere of beating the Outlaws every time they show up at a brand new track?!

Where are the pictures? Elko Speedway in Minnesota used to cover the track with dirt for the IRA Sprint cars. There were some good shows.

They had the Outlaws there the final year they covered it with dirt and it was a great night of racing.

Looking good so far. 11.9 fast time in hot laps. It's obvious the track is holding some moisture deep inside after the first 2 hot lap sessions. Call me crazy but I can see Rockford converting to dirt. They don't draw big crowds or car counts anymore. Until tonight!

They are giving it a lot of effort with working the track, but it is very rough. Exciting for the fans. Probably not so much for the drivers. Schatz looked comfortable up high (really the middle) during the dash and will be hard to beat, IMO. Passing won't be easy though so this could get interesting. PPM the best non outlaw so far tonight, Ian Madsen in there as well.

Donny is obviously the safe bet but I think Gravel might have something for him tonight. Lapped traffic will be a big factor. Almost go time!
