I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you but name one sprint car race, at any level, wing or non-wing, in which the "same handful" aren't battling for the win.

USAC pays a $21k purse and it's $25 to get in. And you'll only get about 14 competitive cars.

WoO pays a $48k purse and it's $37 to get in. If you used the same metric (purse/ticket price)  for WoO that they did USAC, it'd be $57 to get into the WoO. USAC is wildly overpriced at $25 to get in for the purse they pay. The quality of the winged field will be far better top to bottom.

You can use total car count if you want,   but the way I look at it is that both shows will have 3 heats, a Consi and an A feature.   (WoO will also have a fast dash...something that I believe takes away from the feature action),   One for $25 and one for $37.

The total purse does not affect my attendance decision making process one bit.

I went to Calhan once for 305s & was not impressed at all. Total one groove, inside track, follow the leader. Only good race was lowest class (Hornets?) won by a girl on door banging, last lap, Turn 4 pass. She was thrilled, her first win...

I'm sceptical about WoO show, no 410s in Colorado (except one guy who races at Knoxville, pretty sure he keeps his car there) Hopefully WoO will pay tow $$ to Nebraska & Kansas guys? But I'll definitely check it out if I'm around....

They did put down a bunch of new clay and re-sculpted the corners over the winter,  I went to a 305 show a few weeks ago and it was pretty good.   Not great,  but much better than the last RMMRA show last year when the promoter jumpted into the water truck and began making laps during a lap 2 caution.   No red flag, he just started laying down water while the midgets idled around the track.    Looking forward to seeing RMMRA there again this year and maybe another trip to CMP in Byers for 305s.    (not much of a fan of the Ft Morgan track even though I did see a good RMMRA show there this year.

Jake Bubak from Arvada ran with the WoO in Knoxville a few weeks ago,  Ricky Montgomery from Lakewood runs a 360 there every week.     To be honest i don't expect more than about 20 cars there for a late season, mid-week show sanwiched in between Chico CA and Spencer IA, but maybe a few OK, SD and IA guys will venture over.    I will probably go just because, but I am not buying a ticket in advance.....I suspect this one might cancel quickly if it starts getting too cloudy.

I might go to Calhan for Midgets if I'm around. What kind of car counts do they get? competitive races?

RMMRA has been pulling in about 20-ish cars in their 3 or 4 show this year.   Tony Rossi got banged up at I76 last weekend so they will be down 1 for a while,  but 16-20 should be about every show.

Badlands first race this year, the purse was I believe around $115,000 by race time, so By your calculation admission at badlands that night should've been around $137 per ticket.    Jeez I guess $30 was pretty cheap after all.  ??

I'm not sure how Badlands got brought in to this (oh wait, you did that) but be careful what you base a value on when it comes to sprint car racing. You seem to pace a lot of value on purse. I will agree that the $30.00 ticket for the Badlands $100,000.00 Silver Shootout was a good value.

But before you get too carried away with praise lets take a different look at what you are stating. The upcoming Badlands Rock&Roll $250,000.00 Gold Cup has a three day ticket price of $175.00. By contrast, the upcoming Knoxville Nationals with a purse of $950,000.00(plus) has a four day ticket price of $173.00.

Where would you like to use the word "Jeez", now?

Easy now.   I wasn't basing value on anything.   my comment was strictly in response to DSC1600's purse to admission explaination.   Yes I was being sarcastic and I dont base admission price or my possible attendance on what the purse is. However, there were plenty that complained about $30 admission for $115,000 Silver Shootout purse.

If you want to get ripped off, by all means do so. I would rather see my admission price used to offset the cost of a higher purse. The USAC purse is a bit of a joke and the admission prices are not in line with such purse mediocrity as I pointed out in my 1st post.

If you go to Eagle be sure to ask Baloou why he said Eagle sucks at Jackson last night.   And be sure to tell anyone in front of him has to pull over since he's a superstar and doesn't like lapped traffic ......what a whiner......  Suck it up buttercup how did you start out racing....everyone starts somewhere.

Hey dickless..............You should go to Eagle and walk into to his pit so you can tell him yourself! I happen to know where Robert started and he "started somewhere" a long damned time ago. He has more than earned the right to state an opinion. I assume you have been around long enough to see Sammy Swindell race and NOBODY expects people to "just pull over" for them more than his whiney ass!

36 cars tonight at Jackson.  No PPV so I'll wait to see via dirt vision if it's a good show or not.  Heard the USAC show was good last night.

The "same handful" aren't battling for the win at the Chili Bowl? There are 300 cars at that race, yet Kevin Swindell won four years in a row from 2010-13. Rico Abreu just went back-to-back at this year's race.

The obvious flaw with that argument is that the purse is not the only expense a promoter has for the night. Fixed costs like employees, electricty, insurance still have to get paid, whether the purse is $1 or $1 million. The cost to run a USAC show compared to an Outlaw show is not 40 percent unless every employee is working for free, there is no such thing as paying to run the lights, have insurance, etc.

The purse may be the largest expenditure a track has, but it is far from the only expense a track has. It's not like a track employee gets paid $8 to flip burgers for a USAC show, but then gets paid $18 an hour to flip burgers at an Outlaw show. It's not like the electricity provider says to the promoter, "Running an Outlaw show? The cost of turning on the lights will be double what it normally costs."
