This weekend's races at Badlands are cancelled due to Friday night's storms.
Admission will be free next weekend for everyone - fans and racing teams - for both nights of racing. The regular purse will be paid each night.

Wow, that's pretty cool of badlands to do. The weather was terrible last night and I'm sure everything is a mess out there. Hopefully lots of first time fans out there next week get hooked on racing.

Class might be a bit of a stretch, but he certainly knows how to put butts in the seats and cars in the pits.
As I said several times before, I think its long overdue for the Sioux Falls to get the kind of racing they always deserved. So dial back your dick-o-meter and enjoy it.

99% of so called big tracks don't have a millionaire running them. great move by badlands none the less. He's got money and he's not afraid to use it. It's a great deal for the fans and drivers that attend badlands.

One of the best ways to make a million racing is to have two.I am sure He has more than two but whatever it is still a way to get folks that arent fans to go to the races and a chance to see whats happening there.Good P.R. is always helpful. One of our local stock car tracks has a $5 night and one of the fair board members said they actually made more as the concessions sold out and the had many more people.I do know from someone that is from Brandon that the track is having a good economic effect on the community. A promoter that is promoting is good for the sport.I have stated before that higher purses have resulted from Todd and Chuck[dont know them] promoting against each other and has helped every team and the purses havent kept up with costs.Tires and engines costs seem to rise every year.

That's why I think free kids night is a must every once in a while. Sure you let them in free. They bring a buddy or two or a group. They eat 2 slices of pizza and a Gatorade or pop and a thing of candy and all the sudden they spent a little more than their usual admission cost would've been. Now if 40% of those kids get hooked on the races, than from an owners standpoint, that was a smart move to get the ball rolling. Just my thoughts.

maybe this guy will come to his senses and realizes he's wasting a ton of money on something less than 1% of this countries population even gives a shit about...

The most amazing part is the racers and crews are free too......unheard of! He may have alot of money and flash it around, but he's done more good than any harm thus far. He catches shit for being how he is, but I could care less. The racers are getting taken care of, and that's what is most important. Keep them coming and viable and the fans will follow.

I cannot go next week because of a conflict, so thats a mute point. I do own a push truck there but do not drive it. Im going on the record as to being opposed to free access to the pit area for anyone that wants to walk into the back gate. Badlands pit area is tight and there will probably be more than expected cars there just because. Im hoping that they have looked at the liabilty aspect of potentially a pit full of people that should not be there.
Rant over.. carry on.

From the twitter announcement:
Everyone who has purchased tickets or won free tickets to the race this weekend will be covered as Mr. Brennan has decided to make next weekend at Badlands motor Speedway Absolutely FREE for everyone, all weekend with no strings attached for the first time in track history.
I don't think letting everyone in free the next week exactly "covers" those that bought tickets to the canceled show. Those that bought tickets are essentially paying to go to a free show now. Good for BMS to make a free weekend. And Brennan has offered to buy back season tickets this week, so there's that. But I still think those that bought tickets should get to use them at a normal show.

I hear what you're saying. But also don't forget the policy that says that anyone who has season tickets, if a saturday show gets rained out, you get that $20 of credit towards next years seasons pass. And the same for Sunday's $10 show. So in reality they are not out any money and they are not technically "paying to go to a free show." It's a wash.
Never the less, the money that Chuck could've made with the concert and the concessions is all gone. He's giving concert goers their tickets back plus a little extra. The money from two nights of racing plus concessions this past weekend is all lost. And to top it off, he's letting everyone, EVERYONE in free two nights this week. That's crazy to say the least.

It's a business move that only a man like him could make. It sure is risky, but I'm sure he is banking on making some of the money back off of concessions from a full crowd. But he's also promoting dirt racing and hopefully will draw new fans (also good for him in the long run). Like I said, it takes a person with his pocketbook to be able to eat this upfront cost in what could pay off big in the long run. Nevertheless, it's a great opportunity for fans and racers.
My complaint was solely on the twitter post saying those that bought tickets were "covered". I don't know how many people bought single tickets for the canceled race, but I still stand by my notion that those specific people are kind of getting the short end of the straw by essentially paying to go to a free race.

I think you'll find that his insurance carrier would make sure that those coming into the pits are asigned to a car- just like when someone buys a pit pass. To simply let a herd of people into the pit area would just be asking for a liability issue.
For what it's worth- I saw a TV ad today for this weekend's races. It does say they are free this weekend.
I haven't checked the weather forcast. There's always the chance that this weekend's free races could get hairballed by a rain stoem.
