GOBRECHT'S HIRED GUN READY FOR WEIKERT MEMORIAL Young Gun Trey Starks Suits Up For Memorial Day Weekend Battle PA Sprint Car News | Justin Snyder Port Royal, PA | May 25, 2016 Coming off races at Lincoln Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway last week against the World of Outlaws in the Jeff McCall owned No.23, Washington young gun Trey Starks will return to PA in the Scott Gobrecht owned No.44 to take on the Pennsylvania Posse this Memorial Day weekend. Looking to capitalize on the momentum that he gained at Lincoln, where he set his first career World of Outlaw quick time during qualifying before suffering a rain out last Wednesday and was able to secure a his best World of Outlaw finish of the season the following day (15th), Starks will return to PA to pilot the Golf Cart Services, Bad Boy Buggies No.44 for the first time this season at Port Royal for the Bob Weikert Memorial. This marks a return of the Gobrecht family owned No.44 after Chase Dietz vacated the seat in early March to pursue other racing ventures. "I'm excited to work with Trey while supporting the Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway," said Scott Gobrecht. “Everyone involved has worked hard to put together a great event and I'm glad to be able support their efforts." Originally Starks had plans to run the No.23 at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C ., against the World of Outlaws before travelling to Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore. for the Marvin Smith Memorial is his family owned No.55. However, he will now forgo his West Coast plans following the Outlaw show at Charlotte to travel to Port Royal, a track at which he has visited several times since 2014 and has a career best finish of 8th “Port Royal is a really cool track,” he said. “It’s really fast. It kinda reminds me of a Williams Grove Speedway and Knoxville Raceway combined because of the big, wide, fast corners." The Bob Weikert Memorial will run Saturday through Monday with a huge 35 lap, $10,000 to win Sunday night spectacular. A great move from Scott Gobrecht to give Trey Starks this ride for the WEIKERT MEMORIAL and for him to support this great race which everyone has worked hard on . This shows that tracks and promoters need to work together to keep our racing strong as one of the best circuits in the country .

A little dis-appointing to hear this. Nothing against Trey Starks, don't know him personally but seems to be a nice guy. It would be nice to see a young local driver have a shot in the ride for a weekend to show what they could do in decent equipment. I could see the reason for putting Trey in it if he did'nt have a ride and was sitting out. Not only does he have his family car he also runs the McCall #23 at numerous shows. per the release he had races on his schedule that he cancelled to drive the 44.
Before all the proffesional poster jump on me :
1. No , I have no interest in fielding a sprint car, nor in sponsoring a car. I may be willing to help push it in the trailer at the end of the night ( but only if they are short on crew help ... LOL )
2. It's Scott's car and he can do as he wants since he's paying the bill's
3.I'm not associated with any driver that I'm trying to get into a car, I have enough of my own problems. I'm very satisfied as a fan watching only.
4. "AGAIN", I have nothing against Trey Starks, seems like a good young driver
Seat belt is now fastened tightly, have at fellas

I wrote the above story and I interviewwe all parties involved. This is basically one promoter doing another promoter a favor. Scott has pout a lot of hard work into SUsky and the surrounding tracks have been good to him as well. Port put together a big weekend and Scott decided to bring the car out to support the event. Trey is a rising name in Sprint Car racing and they were just in town for the Outlaw show. He gave him a call and asked if he would be interested and Trey jumped at the opportunity to run in good equipment for a big weekend at a track he has ran fairly well at in the past. It's a one weekend deal with nothing else going forward at the current moment
