Central PA promoters need to watch the video of Lernerville last night. Truly special entertaining things worth paying 30 bucks to see happen when there is a cushion. Great stuff. Even a Triple X can make things interesting with surface fit to race on.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

From a pure racing standpoint, event was great. Track was real, real fast. Blaney qualified at 12.7 and change. Track Record is 12.3 and change. So yep fast.
Not sure promoters want to pay attention to pace or setup of program though. 2 support classes, both crate engine classes that ran their A before All Star A Main. Between last All Star heat and A Main green was just about a 3 hour "break." You read that right. 3 hours between last All Star Heat race and A Main green which went green at 10:57. I live about 35 minutes from the track and got home at 12:15ish.

Agreed. As I said 3 hours from last heat race finish to A Main green. A number of drivers were displeased. But eh, learn for next time (whether it was the tracks call or the All Stars). Still good racing and still a night at the track beats most anything else.

Im headed out there for the first time for the Silver Cup in July. It's always looked very racy. Looking forward to it.

It pisses me off to no end when tracks run support division features first. Only reason ever to do that is if the track is too wet and narrow and needs to be widened out. Otherwise it wastes fans time and makes it a bitch to get out of the parking lot with everyone leaving at once
Lernerville's a great track that is racy and fast. Best dirt track anywhere in PA IMO. A lot of central PA fans want a big heavy cushion every week so the cars can go fast and run the top. However that is usually not a formula for great racing. Put a big cushion on a half-mile and you will get a high speed freight train. Nearly any driver in the 410 ranks can put the RR on the cushion of a wet heavy track and stand on it. At big tracks like the Grove, Selinsgrove and Port Royal, the racing is always best when the track is slicked off and the cushion is pushed up close to the fence creating a wide racy track with multiple grooves. I'll take that over a wet heavy track any day. Smaller tracks tend to get used up quicker so I do like the bullrings wet and heavy.

You are right on all points you made here , new owner wants to do the right things for track, I understand some improvements have been made already . Previous owner did nothing for Lernerville , a great track , I 'd like to see USAC and some other racing come into this facility as well .

I am a long time Lernerville spectator and do believe the new owners are going about making things better. They have shown improvements since last year and I would assume they will be making more in the future. I am really looking forward to the next few years to see what will happen. Progress is always slow when you first take over a facility, but I am going to give them the some time to do things right.
As far as the program order, I also think placing the All-Star A Main last was a mistake. IMO, they could have run that feature earlier even under track conditions. Just my opinion though.
It was also stated that the Central Pa tracks take notice of the cushion. I am not so sure that this was by design, but just a product of the rain that fell throughout the week. I was at the track on opening night and never saw dust like I saw that night. Not willing to hold that against them though, because there are factors that go into that from week to week. To be honest, nothing will keep me from Lernerville as I have been attending since the early 70's. Totally committed to the track!!
My advice to the track is to finish the restroom renovation and redo the one in turn 1. The one in turn 4 was done recently (last year or 2) and they really need to take care of the one in turn 1 soon.
All in all, I can't wait to see the changes that I believe will happen. I have always been a strong supporter of Lernerville and as much as I have pointed out some needed improvements, I will be there as many events as I can. I grew up going to the track and I will support them because of the racing and tradition that has been established. Lernerville is already a great facility and I hope it only gets better!

How did previous ownership steal money and run? Not disputing your claim just hadn't heard that before. Genuinely wondering if you can expand.

Not sure exactly what the other gentleman meant , but I will say WoO hardly ever makes improvements in a facility , just want to make the money only , really don't care about fans , but I 'll get blasted for that but it is true , I've seen it before .

WRG owned Lernerville until early last season. Previous to last season they "leased" the faciltiy to basically a capital management team, which was a "paper" transaction until they found an owner. The local owner purchased the facility towards the beginning of last season and WRG ran it the rest of the year. Gary Risch was and is the GM of the track and runs the facility. He was (maybe still is) technically an employee of WRG.
All that said, you are right they did not improve the facility (WRG did not want to sepnd the $). No joke the scoreboard didn't work for almost an entire season. The scoreboard!

They do seem to want to put on a good show.It is strange however they dropped the sprint car winning purse to $1200.00.They aren,t going to attrat much outside talent with that move.Mercer raceway still pays $1500 to win
