There are times when there's just no choice.  You can't do anything about a high number of yellow flags.  You can only go so long on a tank full, especially today's 410s.  Do you want to see fuel mileage races where cars don't run hard to save fuel like NASCAR?  Not me.  I'd rather stop and put some in.  if it happened all the time it would be an issue and need attention.  But the few times it does happen doesn't really bother me.

I do them all of the time.  My family and I go on regular vacations across the country.  If I don't stop, I run out in the western part of Ohio (if heading east) or the southern part of Ill. (if heading south)

I'm not sure I really have an opinion unless the gas price is $4.50, then I would say they suck.  Otherwise, I feel they are just a necessary task.

Does that answer your question Bob?

So you'd rather see everyone run out of fuel in a race that has 17 yellows and endless yellow flag laps?  OK.  And I like the 50 lap A main with the stop.  It's the biggest race of the year.  It adds some intrigue.  I wouldn't like it every week but once in a while for something different I'm OK with.  Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Question?  What size of cell are most teams using now?  If its not the 33 gallon cell, my opinion is that it should be mandatory, regardless of number of laps of size of track.  With that being said, adjust the fuel stop policies, if any, factoring the use of the 33 gallon cell.  This should eliminate most all fuel stops.

If not already mandatory, 33 gallon tanks should be universal. Fuel stops after a few laps are bush league and the sport needs to do more to try and eliminate them.

I wouldn't be against that.  One question though, how many fuel stops do we see a year?  I don't see very many but I don't watch many half miles either.  It has to be extreme to have one on a short track.  It would be interesting to know how may times the WOO had a fuel stop last year.  Maybe Johnny Gibson could fill us in.

I have no problem with fuel stops. Number one because they are rather infrequent on the basis of yellow flags being the cause. Number two, I like the longer races, personally. I wish there were more modeled after the Knoxville Nationals. When Knoxville went to the 50 lap National A Feature with the stop, I thought it was the best thing they had done in many years and I still feel that way. The buzz and excitement in the stands adds to the event. But then I also like the teams getting the opportunity to make adjustments and a chance to make their car better. Let's face it, the heat races and time trials are still not the answer for a fair line up. If A Mains were longer with a stop, maybe inverts would work to add more excitement and better racing. I understand the need for them - as long as they make it a closed red and don't allow any other work on the cars. Just fuel.

I agree, I'm ok with it. Having said that, my biggest gripe with it is that, each year, the scheduled caution seems to come out right as the leaders are hitting traffic, and/or certain cars are getting faster towards what would normally be the end of the race, if it's 30 laps. That's when it start to get really exciting, in my opinion.

Fuel stops are a necessary evil sometimes. I know a lot of drivers don't want anything to do with bigger fuel cells because of the fact that sprint cars are very fire prone and that's just more shit that will burn. Me personally, they don't really bother me. It's just a part of it. If I gotta piss, I use the opportunity to do so. If not, I sit there and shoot the shit with my buddies. Personally, I think it the drivers feel it's and increased fire hazard and the smaller tanks are safer, I'll put up with a little downtime. No big deal.

I hear you.  You just have to get out and stretch your legs once in awhile and you might as well fill up.  Someone was talking about putting a wrench on the car and making adjustments.   Hey, while you are at it, go to a NASCAR race and see how fun that is.  I thought we were talking about SPRINT CARS, not a damn long distance race......They best be fired up for this game 7 tonight.  I know I am..........

Even when he asks a real question....

If my dog pisses on the carpet 6 days a week, I don't give her a treat on the one day that she doesn't
