I'm headed to Devil's Bowl for outlaw show next weekend. I've never been there...is it advisable to buy advance tickets to get good seats?
Thanks!

I walked up maybe 90 minutes before last years Sat night show and got a nice single aisle ticket with no problem other than a long and very slow line. It took a forever because everyone buying a ticket had to look a computer screen to choose their seat.
I would watch the weather, we are supposed to have heavy rains (3-5 inches) starting late Sunday through midweek and Devils Bowl has more than a bit of a reputation for calling races early.
My plans are to wait midweek to see how the weather works out and then buy a ticket online to avoid the lines.

I wouldn't buy advance tickets to anything at Devils Bowl for sure. PorschePete nailed it as far as their rep for cancelling. The place also has a fairly large grandstand. It ain't Knoxville, but you should be able to just walk up and get a decent seat in turn four.

I don't think DB is promoting this event. It's a WOO event and unless it's flooded they will run it. Had very heavy rain last year and they towed rigs to the pits and still raced. Not like a DB sponsored ASCS event. If there is a crowd (there will be) they will do everything to get it in. The WOO return to DB has been heavily attended

What sort of a car count are we looking at for this event?

I'm well aware of the fact that the WoO is leasing the track and is promoting the event themselves. I'm also aware that this will be the most heavily attended event at the track this year, and yet none of that gives me any desire to buy an advance ticket. I'll stand by what I said, he can still walk up to the ticket booth and get a decent seat in turn four. Unless he wants to sit up on the top rows of the stands or specifically wanted to sit in the reserve section it just wouldn't be necessary.

Probably around 30 or so. Two years ago I think it was 30 exactly. Last year I think it was around 26 or 28, but I could be mistaken. This is not 410 country. This may be the birth place of the WoO, but racing in this area ain't what it used to be.

If you are interested in good seats, you should plan on buying Reserved seats. The section righ behind the flagger is reserved seating even for a regular night show. This section also has chair backs. The stands going from the reserved seats to the end of turn four have the highest seats. If you desire is to be as high as possible you will need to get a seat in this section. If I was planning on making a special trip, I definitely would buy tickts in advance.
I just looked online for tickets and the seats with chair backs have very limited options. However, sections 8,9,10 all have good options at the higher levels.

Good point about the seat backs. I take a good stadium seat with me, so I generally don't have to worry with that. Since the back straight is 15 feet higher than the front you don't necessarily need to sit high in turn four. Anything 10 rows up or higher and you can see the entire track with no problems. I rarely go anywhere near the top at Devils Bowl. I just found out that my brother will have his limited modified there, so I'll probably get a pit pass and then go up in the stands to watch the feature. I've done that the last two years and still had a good view of the feature.

For whom it may concern,
At last years Texas Outlaw Nationals, haulers were dragged through the pit area several hundred feet through a rain soaked pit area, so that we could race. This weekend is not a regular weekly show, this is the World of Outlaws, we will do everything in our power to race this weekend!

Sort of unrelated...but Brent Marks was going to make the trip form Central PA and decided against it. Good decision given the uncertainty of the weather and the fact the All Stars are in Central PA this weekend.

Yeah, makes sense to me. I'm sure someone who races at Williams Grove can't handle a big fast track....You're right though, track will be bad fast. Will be bad racing too, especially the heat races. Get ready for the highest speed freight train you'll ever see. Hopefully the track slicks before feature time.
