Aside from a couple of details that still have to be worked out, the Toronto Maple Leafs are very close to locking up captain Dion Phaneuf to a seven-year, $49 million contract extension, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger. Those details, according to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, are regarding Phaneufs no-movement and no-trade clauses in the language of the new contract. Phaneuf, 28, has been captain of the Maple Leafs for the last four seasons - shortly after being acquired in a trade with the Calgary Flames in 2010. He was set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer. In 638 regular season games, the veteran blueliner has 109 goals and 354 points with 849 penalty minutes. Hes played 260 games of those games with Toronto, scoring 34 goals and 126 points. Signing Phaneuf would keep another one of the Maple Leafs key players in the fold for at least the next five seasons. The club signed winger Phil Kessel to an eight-year, $64 million contract extension at the start of the season and re-signed centre Tyler Bozak to a five-year, $21 million last summer. Free agent forward David Clarkson signed a seven-year, $36.75 million contract with the Maple Leafs on July 1, while wingers Joffrey Lupul and James van Riemsdyk are locked up with long-term contracts through the 2017-18 season. WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Jets have placed forward Evander Kane on injured reserve as he recovers from what coach Paul Maurice calls a deep cut on his hand. The move is retroactive to Jan. 7, when Kane last played in Winnipegs 4-2 loss to Tampa Bay at the MTS Centre. While its unknown how Kane injured his hand, he did end that game with a fight against Liightning defenceman Eric Brewer.dddddddddddd Kane has 14 goals and 11 assists in 38 games this season and is one of the Jets most productive forwards. The team has recalled Carl Klingberg from the American Hockey Leagues St. Johns IceCaps to fill in. Klingberg has 11 goals and seven assists in 33 games with the IceCaps this season. cheap nfl jerseys authentic? jerseys nfl wholesale?wholesale jerseys?cheap jerseyswholesale jerseys ' ' '
