Lawn Sprinkler Valves and How To Locate Them
They are connected to the 2 way valve for your irrigation and control the flow of water to each sprinkler "zone" or section. In case you have a zone technique you have valves.
Irrigation solenoid valves are the Molded rubber to your sprinkler heads.
Quality solenoid valves are built to perform under adverse Auto rubber. They lay quietly in the ground doing their job year after year, covered in dirt and water. As with any equipment that is made up of moving parts, they will finally wear out and fail.
Sprinkler valves usually fail in of ways:
*They will constantly leak a small amount of o ring, known as "weeping".
* They will stick open and run round the clock until the water source is turned off.
*Or they won't turn on at all.
First, check near your oil seal. Plenty of homes have their irrigation technique connected to their house water (versus connected to a pump). Most city water systems will have an above ground back flow preventer. This is a metal tool with handles on it to turn off the sprinkler water without turning off the water to the house. It ought to be located near where the water from your city meter goes in to your house.
The best and simplest way to locate a Rubber parts is with a specialized tool called a valve locater. However, these devices are pricey to buy and usually not for rent. So before you go to the expense of hiring an irrigation contractor to find your malfunctioning valve, here are some places to look:
The next place to look is where the Plastic part is located. Check this area in the same way as you probed the back flow area.
After finding the back flow Rubber sheet, take a 12" screwdriver and GENTLY probe a six foot area around the back flow. Take care to probe slowly as to not puncture any pipes. In case you hit something solid, probe around this spot six inches in diameter. In case you hit anything smaller than that, keep looking.
Very often, the valves won't all be placed in a central Silicone sheet. They are going to be scattered throughout the yard. A very common location is on the corners of the house.
Another indicator to select the Plastic seal of the valve is to turn on the defective zone and select which sprinklers pressurize first. The first heads to pressurize are the ones closest to the valve. Obviously, this won't work with valves that won't come on.
Although buried sprinkler yiwu market can be difficult to find without a valve locator, with some patience and a small luck, they can be found.
Because your yiwu trading company was probably installed with a walk-behind-trencher, the valves will be at about feet off of the walls.
