Now Sam Beam and friends are dipping their feet into the Twilight world again: With the upcoming first half of the two-part Twilight: Breaking Dawn, the fourth and final installment of the saga, slated for a Nov. 18 release, Iron & Wine’s retooled “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” for its soundtrack. It appears as a slowed-down, sparse rendition, driven by piano and a beautiful orchestral string arrangement. The new version’s official title is “Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Wedding Version).”
In 2008, Iron & Wine landed some major mainstream exposure as one of the first critically respected artists to lend their talents to the Twilight franchise: “Flightless Bird, American Mouth,” from sophomore album The Shepherd’s Dog, appeared on the original Twilight film’s soundtrack.
