The first single is one that’s been rumored for a while. It will feature tracks from Los Angeles hair-rockers L.A. Guns and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Malkmus and his band will cover L.A. Guns’ “Wheels of Fire” and L.A. Guns will cover Malkmus’ “Gorgeous George” from this year’s Mirror Traffic. OBN IIIs and The Men will also be featured on the series, and Matador will announce the full line-up for the series later.
Louis C.K. released his new stand up special, Live at the Beacon Theater on Dec. 10. The release is completely digital and direct through the comedian’s website — C.K.’s standup is available for $5 through Pay Pal and you get access to two streams and two downloads of the show.
With the release of the special, C.K. wanted to make the material easily accessible for the fans without the hassles of corporate restrictions, which means no “DRM” technology that would make the file harder to torrent. C.K. released this statement today asking fans to keep things honest in regard to sharing the special.
It’s been over a decade since Michael Chabon released his Pulitzer Prize-winning book The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, and for almost as many years, a film adaptation has been in the works. Now, director Stephen Daldry has expressed interest in the live adaptation, but it’s a bit different that the film version that was expected.
Daldry, who has directed The Reader and the upcoming Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, stated that he would rather turn Kavalier & Clay into a miniseries on HBO. He says that he envisions it as an eight-part series.
