Handy Racing Promotions thanks Golden State Challenge Series teams for 2009 participation/Looking ahead to 2010

By Gary Thomas

Roseville, CA – August 26, 2009…Coming off one of the more exciting seasons of on track competition for the Golden State Challenge 410 Sprint Car Series, Handy Racing Promotions would like to give thanks to everyone for their participation this year and are looking to build off it and go ahead with bigger and better things in 2010.

Last Saturday night's finale at the Placerville Speedway featured a tremendous duel for the win between Los Angeles, CA's Tyler Walker and Chico's Jonathan Allard, which ended with Walker getting the better of it to capture his Golden State Challenge Series record ninth main event win of the season to put an exclamation point on his first ever King of California championship.

Throughout the season the battle for the title was one of best in recent memory with the top spot changing multiple times between Walker, Allard and Campbell's Brent Kaeding. "The Golden State Challenge Series has a great champion in Tyler Walker, who did an amazing job all year long to win a record nine times and we have to give a big congrats to Tyler, Scott & Kathy Chastain and their whole team ," said Alan Handy. "The championship fight was close all year and Jonathan Allard and Brent Kaeding have to be commended as well because they did a great job too and kept it exciting."

Handy also wanted to show his appreciation for everyone's support during the season in what was the first year of operation under the Handy Racing Promotions banner. "I want to give a big thanks to all the drivers, teams, officials, tracks, fans and everyone who supported the Golden State Challenge Series this year," he said. "We have some things in the works and will be going at it hard in the off-season to try and improve things to make this series truly the best in the west. We're already working on the schedule and have secured the Oregon dates once again for next year and are also in preliminary talks with World of Outlaw officials to possibly have a race coinciding with the Outlaws at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2010."

With a number of the top drivers and teams on the west coast competing with the Golden State Challenge Series for most of the year, the on track product has been as good as it's been in many seasons and saw more than half of the main events come down to the final five laps for the winner to be decided. "The competition level up front was really high this year and we're hoping for it to get even bigger and better in the seasons to come," Handy said. "We just want all the teams to know that we are going to be giving it our all to grow this series and are looking forward to next year."

With the local 410 sprint car season coming to a close this Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway the attention will be focused on the upcoming Gold Cup Race of Champions. “We’re all looking forward to having a great Gold Cup this year,” said Handy. “We have a lot of strong California teams that will be giving the Outlaw guys a run for their money so it should be an exciting week of racing and hopefully the fans will enjoy it. We had Tyler Walker and Jonathan Allard go back to Knoxville and finish in the top-15 at the Nationals so you better bet that they'll be right in the thick of things at the Gold Cup."

Extra pit seating is also being brought in and will be placed in the turn two area to give everyone the best chance to be as comfortable as possible to watch all the action at the prestigious event. For all your info regarding the 56th Gold Cup Race of Champions log onto
