Jason Meyers, Elite Racing, Has Up and Down Weekend at Skagit

Elite Racing Team is Movin' On Up…In Points, That Is

CLOVIS, Calif. (August 26, 2007) –Jason Meyers and the Elite Racing, Primerica Financial, Elite Landscaping, GLR Investments, Team Worldwide, Carbon Raptor DLC, Ridgeline Framing Maxim Chassis with Garrett Racing Engines World of Outlaws (WoO) sprint car team utilized a solid run at Skagit Speedway on Friday night to move back into the top-five in the WoO points.

SKAGIT ROUND ONE

Qualifying twelfth with an AMB i.t. timed lap of 11.546 seconds, Meyers crossed under the checkers first in his heat race, which would give him a starting position in the Crane Cams Dash event.  Starting fifth and finishing fifth in the Dash event would line Meyers up on the inside of the third row to start the A-Main event.

Seeing eight caution flags and one red flag during the A-Main event, Meyers would cross the line in sixth position, which would move him up into the top-five in WoO points.

"The track just wasn't as good tonight as it's been in the past," said Meyers.  "We had a lot of cautions tonight, and I'm grateful that we survived all of them.  Our guys have been working hard, and we are looking forward to night two."

SKAGIT ROUND TWO

With rain delaying the start of the second night of the two-day event, Meyers had drawn an early pill to determine his qualifying position.  Pulling off a lap of 11.962 seconds, the Elite Racing Team would be disappointed to see that time was only good for twenty-second position.  Transferring directly to the A-Main event by virtue of his fourth-place heat finish, Meyers would not have a chance at the Crane Cams Dash.

Starting twentieth in the A-Main event, Meyers would make it up to fifteenth position before the checkered flags fell.

"We drew too early of a pill for qualifying, as the track definitely got faster as qualifying went on because of the rain we got tonight.  That put us behind the game all night, and we are looking forward to running at Elma (Gray's Harbor Raceway) on Monday night," said Meyers.

ALMOST HOME FOR ELITE RACING

Working their way down the west coast, the Elite Racing Team is looking forward to returning to their home base for a little while.

"We have a shop in Illinois that we utilize throughout the season, but there is nothing like getting to work out of our home shop, getting to sleep in my own bed and being around our friends and family that we don't get to see nearly enough," commented Meyers.  "Not to mention, these are tracks that we are very comfortable with and tracks that our California team (piloted by Ronnie Day and Peter Murphy) race at week in and week out."

With the race team based out of Clovis, Calif., the "local" WoO races will also afford Meyers the opportunity to work on preparing his home for the impending birth of his first child, a baby girl.

"Everyone has been such a big help in helping us prepare for Delaney's arrival while we have been on the road," noted Meyers.  "There are quite a few things that I need to get accomplished before she gets here, and we couldn't have picked a better time to be going home on the Outlaw schedule."

UP NEXT FOR ELITE RACING

Jason Meyers and the Elite Racing Team head to Gray's Harbor Raceway on Monday night, followed by Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Ore.  After that, the team heads to the traditional Harvest Classic at Calistoga Speedway on Labor Day weekend.
