For Immediate Release

CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS AT BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY!

(Placentia, CA, April 16, 2014)  Round #5 of the highly competitive 2014 California Lightning Sprint Car Championship Series will take pace this Saturday, April 19th, at Scott Schweitzer’s Bakersfield Speedway.  Joining the CLS on “The West’s Fastest 1/3 of a Mile High Banked Clay Oval” will be the Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, American Stocks and the NMRA ¾ Midgets.  Spectator gates will open at 4:00 PM and the first race will be at 6:00.

Saturday’s race at the Kern County track will be the fifth of 18 races in the 2014 CLS championship series.  Thus far, the first four races have produced four different winners.  Lomita’s Bobby Michnowicz won the season opener at Imperial Fairgrounds Raceway.  Silver Lake’s Jeff Dyer won at Perris Auto Speedway and visiting Northern California star Dakota Albright won the first race at Bakersfield three weeks ago.  Two weeks ago defending champion Stephen Limon of Corona notched his first win o0s the season at the Ventura Raceway.

Limon’s win at the beach side Ventura track thrust him to the top of the standings for the first time this year.  However, he only leads Placentia’s Dan Hillberg by 10 points.  Michnowicz took over third in the standings while Dyer, who escaped unscathed from a nasty flip at Ventura, dropped to fourth.  Third year CLS driver Damon Arnett of San Diego is fifth.  The top five in the standings are separated by a mere 94-points.

Jeremy Queener of Torrance paces the “Rookie of the Year” standings heading into Saturday.  The past Perris Street Stock champ is 37-points of Corona’s Corey Hoover.  Laguna Niguel’s Cori Andrews is third amongst the freshman.

Saturday’s speed contest is the second of four at Bakersfield this year.  The other two will be on May 10th and September 27th.  Sandwiched in between Saturday’s race and the May 10th date will be a May 3rd event at the CLS home track, Perris Auto Speedway.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank series sponsors Performance by Rosson Racing, T Shirts by Timeless, Cold Fire West, Circle Track Performance, Extreme Mufflers, Racing Optics, Saldana Race Products, Keizer Wheels, Sander Engineering, Christian Stover Foundation, Hoosier Racing Tires, Drake Incorporated and DK Machine.  If you or your company would like to become part of the California Lightning Series for the 2014 season, please call Bobby Michnowicz at: (310) 320-5569.
