October 14th on the" Magic Mile" at the DuQuoin Fairgrounds in DuQuoin IL. will showcase the Modifieds for what will to be sure be the last race of the year for most. The race was originally scheduled during the DuQuoin State Fair had to be postponed due to the remnants of hurricane Isaac sweeping across Southern Illinois over Labor Day weekend. Not only was the race track unsuitable for competition but the infield and pit area were left unmanageable by the torrential downpours and then alack of sun and wind to dry the area. This marks the first time in history that a stock car race at DuQuoin has been postponed due to weather and the first time in the 64 year history of the "Magic Mile" than an entire auto racing weekend was lost due to weather. Sunday's Ted Horn 100 was rained out as well. The Modified winner will walk out of DuQuoin not only with a $2000 dollar check and trophy, but they will also receive a complete wrap for their body of their 2013 Modified curtsey of ASI Sign and Design. There will also be another complete wrap given to the driver who passes the most cars for a Hard Charger Award. " The mile races to us Modified drivers is comparable to Nascar's Daytona 500 to a Nascar driver" as one Modified driver put it. " The mile should be put on the bucket list of every dirt racer" as another Modified driver stated. Not only will the fans get to see some breathe taking open wheel Modified action, but they will be treated to what has become one of the best ARCA championship battles in history. With 2 races left ARCA legend Frank Kimmel with 5 wins at DuQuoin and ARCA young gun Chris Buescher last years winner of this race, will go head to head to determine the championship. Pit gates open at 7am, practice for the Modifieds will be around 10am. Ticket office opens around 9:30am. Adult tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of and $10 for children. for more info please visit trackentprises.com or call track enterprises at (217) 764-3200.
