Does anyone know the answers to these questions?

1974 Nationals

Ron "Doc" Dawson of Lima, Ohio, finished 19th in the 1974 Knoxville Nationals "A" Main driving for (?) Schrader. What was the car owner's first name? Any information on him? What did Doc Dawson's finishing position pay that year?

1976 Nationals

"Doc" Dawson failed to make it out of the "B" Main in the 1976 Knoxville Nationals. Who was he driving for? Mac Clingan had sold the sprinter that Dawson had driven the previous three years to a group of local businessmen (including Mike Brecht's dad). Doc went with the car and eventually died in it at the Springfield Mile on October 3, 1976. But, was that the car he drove at the 1976 Knoxville Nationals?

Any information would be appreciated. Please send it to [email protected].

If it helps at all, 1975, 19th in the A paid $100, '74 has gotta be close to that if not dead on.

Would assume you have one of these, but looking at the 1976-Super Sprint National Championship Program from the 16th Nationals, The M& M Racing Corporation of Continental, Ohio pre-entered a No. 18 with Doc Dawson as the listed driver. The Saturday night line-up, shows Dawson starting 8th in the B Feature in car numbered 30. Maybe that is what you already knew? No help maybe..

Thanks for posting this question, was cool to look up some really "Ol' School Racin'".

Pre-entry list for thr 1976 Nationals and at a glance, perhaps only John Sernett is still racing, and winning! Would say most have retired, some have sadly passed, and the others have disappeared into obscurity. Like this thing I found kinda cool-Ted Wise, he kinda kicked a little ass at K-Ville with some respectable Nationals finishes, he the same that went on to own that ride Haud drove?

Ted Wise drove the McMillin Engineering number 5 out of Western PA for many years and with great success. Ted passed away this summer back in Hubbard, Ohio. Ted was not a car owner.

In 1976 "Doc" was still driving for Mac Clingan, in a new Dave McPherson built car. The old Alfater car he had been driving was sold to a Nichols in Lima, Ohio. I believe Jim was his first name
