LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS MAKE FIRST APPEARANCE AT VICTORVILLE SATURDAY!

(Placentia, CA, June 7, 2011) Point leader Tim Brown will lead the California Lightning Sprint Car Series into the Pick-A-Part Victorville Auto Raceway this Saturday night, June 11th, at the Summer Sprint Spectacular. It will be the first of two scheduled appearances for the CLS on the racy 1/3 of a mile clay oval in 2011. The other scheduled date is September 10th. While Brown, who lives in Wildomar, California, has been anchored in the point lead since April, the hottest driver in the CLS is defending series champion Jarrett Kramer of Spring Valley. After a rocky start to the 2011 campaign, the 29-year-old veteran has turned his season around in the last two CLS races. At Chris Kearn's Santa Maria Speedway on May 14th, Kramer finished second in the main event behind fast 17-year-old Kevin Michnowicz of Lomita. Two weeks ago at the Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway, Kramer was by far the fastest car on the track and scored an easy victory in the 20-lap main event. With his performances in the last two races, Kramer has climbed to eighth in the series point standings.

Brown extended his point lead to 49-digits at the Salute to Indy when he finished fourth in the main. In the first six races of 2011, Brown, who is still seeking his first CLS win, has only finished worse than fourth one time. Placentia's Dan Hillberg is second in the point standings, but he is feeling the heat of 15-year-old Jacob Will of Carlsbad. A two-time World Karting Association Manufacturer's Cup National Point Champion, Will has crept to within 16-points of Hillberg. Alexander Bissett, a 16-year-old from Hemet, who is contesting his second full season in the series, is fourth in points while Anaheim's Dale Gamer rounds out the top five.

Gates will open at 4:30 PM at VRP and the first race will be at 6:00. In addition to the CLS, Saturday's big event will also include Open Sprint Cars, Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds and the CDCRA Dwarf Cars.

After Saturday's outing at Victorville, the CLS will return to action on July 2nd, along with the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, when the City of Perris stages in Centennial Celebration at Perris Auto Speedway.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank 2011 series sponsors Christian Stover Foundation, Circle Track Performance, DJ Safety, Electro Tech Powder Coating, Elliott's Powder Coating, DK Machine and Fabrication, Hoosier Tires, Keizer Wheels, Performance by Rosson Racing, Racing Optics, Rod End Supply, Saldana Race Products and Sander Engineering.
