Wanted to send some positve thoughts to Oregon racer Danny Horner who broke his neck in a crash last night in Tuscon. Sounds like he's going into surgery soon and will need at least 6 months of rehab. Here's a link for updates: http://www.nwracechat.com/view_topic.php?id=4520&forum_id=25

Best wishes to the Horner clan. Danny is one heckuva driver and I thought he was going to have an outstanding year. I witnessed him absolutely paste the field during the NST Speedweek stop in Cottage Grove last year. Just watching him that night alone opened my eyes to the talent he posseses.

Best wishes to Danny. It was cool to see him come down and run Tulare. It really sucks that this happened. Has anyone heard how the surgery is going?

Danny was coming off a really good 2006 season. He picked up the final Northern Sprint Tour championship as well as the 360 sprint car track title at Cottage Grove Speedway. He scored an ASCS Rocky Mountain regional victory at Rock Springs, Wyoming and then got consecutive 6th places finishes in the TOC at Knoxville, Iowa and then Skagit's 360 Nationals.

Real rough start to the year for the Northwest...

Status report from the link Gary gave above:

Danny had surgery, 7+ hours. The C5 vertebra was shattered and they fused 3.

This was the latest message from Michele N who has been reporting progress:

"Great, Great News!
Danny is getting out of the hospital by Friday!
No paraylsis, prognosis is a full recovery-and yes he expects to race next year!
Woo HOO
!"

Really great news! We'll keep Danny in our prayers for a complete recovery.
