If High Speed Radio can not broadcast the entire night of racing, why don't they forget about the preliminary heat races and B's and just broadcast the A feature, two nights in a row of problems sucks after sitting here four hours and not get to hear the A feature.

maybe they need to keep on working on the issue so that they have things figured out by the weekend when the prelims are over?? If the work on it now and find all the problems then when the BIG race comes up they'll be up and running without errors??

Maybe the 'REAL' problem is you don't have anything better to do rather than sit in front of your computer for 4 hours .......LOL

I agree with you KOP. Streaming races have been hit and miss since those types of sites first started popping up at best. Regardless of the website I don't recall ever sitting through an entire broadcast and gettting flawless audio throughout the entire night's program. If I've got something else that I need to do on my computer I'll tune into racing audio and minimize it but even with DSL most of the time it's been troublesome. This time of year I might listen in occasionally on a weekend but once racing starts I'd rather be outdoors. If there's a rainout I don't see the family enough on weekends during the summer so I'll go do something else if my plans get washed out.

Mostly I'll listen to some of our local series on weeknights on ADN. They've got the Wissota Late Model Challenge Series online but it's on work nights so I usually end up shutting down before the race is over. For me listening to racing on the internet reminds me of when I was a kid back in the 50's when we'd listen to Indy on the radio because nobody carried a tv broadcast. It's kind of like Twins baseball where the only time I'll listen to a game is when I'm on the road or working in the garage.

Don't take what I'm saying wrong, I do appreciate the efforts of these websites that are doing the broadcasts but it's got to be an uphill struggle and there's a limited demand for this type of thing. Quite a few of these tracks have junk for internet connections, broadband isn't a high priority for most dirt tracks and in a lot of cases isn't even available where they're located. The revenue/sponsorship opportunities for racing webcast sites I'd guess barely cover the broadcaster's gas, meal and motel expenses. They're not going to be towing a state-of-the-art trailer full of electronics and a satellite dish, at least not the ones I'm familiar with.

Guys,

We sincerly appologize for the way things have gone come feature time both nights, we don't take it as coincidence and because of that we are not adjusting on this yet.

One way or another, we WILL have the feature played tonight. Last night i was able to record the second half of the race and if that happens again tonight, just stay with us for 5 minutes while we switch systems and we'll give the action to you on a slightly longer delay.

Again, we appologize and hope you enjoy tonight's action.

I hear what yout saying there Stan. 4-5 hours for me is just a little long to be at the PC, but hey, that's just me. I usualy will wait till the main event is going to start, then tune in at that time.

As for Hubbard, he is a good friend of mine and I was just 'busting his chops'. In fact, he just lives a hop, skip and a jump from me. He knows I don't sit still very well for that amount of time and he tends to call me with info. I thought I was once a die hard of racing. Well, I met my match when I met Hubbard ;)

Go out and buy yourself a wireless speaker, I have had one for about 3 or 4 years now I listen to WoO shows, used to listen to Husets Speedway every Sunday while I cleaned the pool. I take it out in the garage when I'm working out there or where ever in the yard I'm going be. Most good wireless speakers work within 100 feet of the receiver hooked up to your computer. I even think they have wireless headphones so your not bothering anyone else in the house. Then your not trapped by the computer during the whole race. About 50 bucks and you have one.

From what I heard you guys are doing a good job. My comments reflect my personal viewpoint, I'd rather do something else than sit in front of a computer on a Saturday night. Nevertheless, there are times when I have listened to the various streaming feeds. I'll probably tune into a few of your ASCS broadcasts this summer and might even run into you guys somewhere here in the upper Midwest.

I remember you mentioning that setup but I like something even more portable that I can listen to on my vanpool and at work. I've already got an expensive set of wired speakers so if I put $50 into anything it would be an MP3 player with more storage capacity. I download and listen to podcasts as well as FM radio on my MP3 player/FM radio combo and would download entire races if they were available. The trouble is that most of the race archives I've checked out are setup as streaming broadcasts where you can't download them. That's surprising considering how many people are using MP3 players on a daily basis. Even if I could download races a four hour race broadcast might be too big of a file to get onto my 512mb player. I've listened to 2 1/2 hour podcasts and had plenty of room left over but the people posting those knew enough to reduce the size so the files weren't outrageously large.

I'll check their website and see if the archives can be downloaded as podcasts and how big the files are. I listen to my MP3 player while working around the house and started producing a podcast myself just for the helluvit.

P.S. No archives found in MP3 format. They only offer streaming audio.
