Just noticed SFS was selling a season package for around 320$ this year. Website says package is worth 430$. This is all great in theory. But any avid SFS race fan knows that when races are rained out at OKC.......they are NOT made up. 1 would assume that to sell this season package 1 of 2 things would have to happen. when a race rains out it HAS to be made up......or.........if a race rains out $$ will have to be given pack to that certain season package owner.

Can anyone shed any light on what exactly the situation is?

They offered season tickets last year and I bought one. The cost was $230 and was about a 35% discount. Last year was a great deal and worked really well for me. I figure I did a little better than break even.

I am still trying to reconclie how the season ticket price jumps over 40% to $322 from last years cost of $230. One, the discount is not as deep - 25% this year vs. 35% last year. Two, best I can tell it looks like there might be one more regular Friday night race than last year due to the calendar. If I factor in those two changes and extrapolate to the stated value of $430, I can only assume that ticket prices are headed up this year.

I am saving final judgement until the 2007 schedule is released - slated to be posted following the Chili Bowl and not updated yet. However, I am very likely to not buy this year.

One other thing to consider beyond rain outs is that Lanny offers a free night to a long list of cities once a year further reducing the potential benefit.

I am curious if any one else bought a season pass last year. What were your thoughts and do you plan on buying this year?

I got a season pass this year. It was given to me as a Christmas gift. It is my understanding that with the rain outs you are just out the money as he doesn't make the race up and there are no refunds. I too am curious to see what the schedule holds for 2007.

Can you tell me if the tickets are dated for each race? I was thinking about this, because along time ago when you purchased one of the boxes of seats down front, you got enough tickets for every race and they were good anytime. If the tickets are good for any racenight, then you could purchase the package and use 2 per night(if my wife lets me go with her). If you can do that, then it would be worth the money because surely half the races wouldn't rain out.We usually miss a few nights for knoxville and sometimes a vegas trip. Also does the package include the specials?

I see what you are saying. I'm not sure if you could do that or not.

The season pass is a card (about the size of a business card). There are dates or maybe numbers (I don't remember which and don't have the card with me at the moment) all the way around the card. I guess that they punch a hole out for each night or something along those lines.

As for what it includes:

Spring and Winter Nationals—2 day shows
ASCS National Show– All Sooner Region ASCS shows
Two special shows including the July 4th race with the fireworks show
Twenty two regular season shows

If they punch a hole for each night it wouldn't work. I would think with all the specials included that would be a pretty good deal.

That's just great. Raise ticket prices and have lower payouts or no increase for anyone. Enid is a smaller demographic area and have higher payout and better shows. Don't know how much longer people going to put up with this. And quite frankly, I'm getting tired of us regular guys having to pay higher pit passes for the ASCS to come to town. We put on a better show than those guys any day, in my own opinion.

I don't know that we put on a better show, there have been some REALLY good ASCS shows (even though you are probably talking about modifieds). I do think however, that if it is a points night for the other classes that they should pay regular price for pitpasses.

I don't know about putting on a better show. I have seen some modified race that were just crash fest usually on the night that the sprints where there and running last, and I was just there to see the sprints.

But I do feel you on paying more to get in the pit to race for points. I think they should have a season pit pass deal for the guys that race there ever week
