How, why and who decided that Tim get a provisional? I'm not really complaining because he provided great excitement during a mostly huggypole feature, but I don't recall anyone ever getting a provisional at the Chilibowl. If it was because he was the defending champ, will Tony get it next year? If it was for past champs, why didn't Sammy ever get one? Has a precedence been started here? Are rules being applied equally? Was there a provisional policy made public prior to this race and what about next year? I'm just a curious race fan but I bet a lot of owners/drivers would like to know.....WHY?

A provisional was given 4 or 5 years ago. I think it goes to the car owner and not the driver. I think they said it was the year after Kruseman won it and they put Bondio's car in with someone else in it.

Emmett said that the defending champ has a 10 year provisional (onetime use of course).

I'm sure he put on a good show but I think provisionals suck!

Per the Racinboys.com broadcast I listened to on McCreadie's qualifying night they said the "Defending champion car owner gets a provisional."  By their discussion it appears to be in the rules.

Sammy DID use one about five years ago....can't remember exactly when, but McCreadie wasn't the first. As soon as he didn't come out for his alphabet race, we figured out what was going on. He made the most of it, anyway.

one car , one race ,once a year, big deal. coming from the back to 8th . Tim did great . wonder if he considered trying to make on his own first, and if he didn,t then use the provisional.

I might be mistaken but didn't Lealand McSpadden use a provisional back in the early 90's????

After looking at past finishes it appears that a few people have used it over the years. Going just by the last starter the years that there where an odd number of starters. Jason Leffler(2000,2001), Tony Stewart(1995), Sammy Swindell (1997).

just meant that there would be no more than 1 driver per year using one.

just 1 more way to make the Chili Bowl more appealing to Nascrap fans. As if Stewart and Kahne weren't enough..........not they throw in provisionals.lol. I'm overstating this but ya'll get the point.

If Daryl Waltrip is next I swear I won't ever even try to attend it again.lol

You good people have no idea how irritating it was to hear fans behing me saying that boogity boogity shit on every start and restart saturday.lol. i think that was the low point of the Bowl for me.

How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would
