Altig Takes Spectacular Tuesday Warren CAT Pre-Qualifier Win at Chili Bowl

TULSA, Okla. (January 9, 2007) – The 21st Annual O'Reilly Chili Bowl Nationals kicked off in the most spectacular fashion with Illinois shoe Gary "Bubba" Altig making a dramatic pass in the final corner to win Tuesday night's Warren CAT Pre-Qualifying 25-lap feature event.

Randi Pankratz made a bid to become the first Chili Bowl main event winner in event history, pacing the field for the opening 22 laps before slipping to fifth in the last few frantic laps.

Jordan Noblitt raced into the lead on the 23rd lap, only to have Altig steal the win by less than a car-length. Noblitt settled for second, with Micro shoe Tony Roney taking the show position. Matt Streeter climbed from 19th to snare fourth in front of Pankratz.

Other drivers finishing among the top fifteen to advance to Qualifying events on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday included Brian Ramstack, Adam Trimble, Billy Osta, Mark Bush, Brad Paris, Samantha Taylor, Ernie Bartley III, C.J. Sarna, Jeff Griffin and Bill Blalog.
