I am a veteran and really appreciate the National Anthem being played at sporting events. However often these days it is sung in a way that is quite unlike the original version. Not so at Knoxville. Katie Spriggs sings it better then anywhere else I've ever heard it sung. Thank you for this Knoxville.

Exactly why this forum is a total joke anymore. Every post is met with some snide remark by some smartass.

Thank you for your service. Lou Lloyd at Port Royal also does a hell of a job.

Everywhere I hit in the midwest has nicely sung National Anthems. Ray Underwood with the IRA does a great job. Oskaloosa is the most interesting when the whole crowd sings along with Terry. Thats probably what the original version should be.

I've always thought "America the Beautiful" should be the anthem, especially this version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OTRRzSuWro

I'm with you on Katie, I love the way she sings it too. The problem with too many other singers is that they think it's a showcase for their voice. IMO it's about the song, not the singer.

It always amazes me that the Port Royal Speedway finds better singers than the NFL for the Super Bowl. As for the Boomer remark,to bad for the Snowflakes that we own most of the counntry.

Fixer has the best post, including the Thank you for the OPs service. I'm not an American but thank you also. You guys are our military.
You have an powerful anthem, hopefully some liberal wont press your govt to change the words so everyone feels spongie when they sing it.
I appreciate that song when I hear it.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Yours is great as well. Through the years of hearing it at sporting events such as hockey games, I've learned the words, and often times I'll sing along with it.

I love our national anthem, heck its probably my favorite song. Artistic impression has changed the way the song is performed and it is what it is ( remember what happened at Indy when the gutter bums from aerosmith attempted it). I really just can't find much if any excuses for some speedways playing a scratchy shitty sounding recording of our national anthem when there are plenty of people that would perform it live and probably free.

Thank you for your service as well, And yes Katie Spriggs is my favorite as well. She can get you about half choked up when she sings it. God Bless America.

As a veteran I believe part of what makes our country so great and our serviuce is that you are not only servijg for those you agree with, but those you disagree with. The protestors, the degenerates and the evil...while we may not agree or even care, it;s the very rights they have that we are serving for just as much as the typical, normal, plain jane American who does everything by tradition with love and respect.
The Anthem is great and the words are what has meaning. Not the melody, not the phrasing, but the lyrics are what represent us as a country. Artists have been covering songs for all of time and the Anthem is essentiually the biggest cover song in the history of music. There will always be different styles, different tones, different breaths and different melodies. As long as the words remain the same...it's still the Anthem.
While I understansd tradition and wanting it to sound the same evertime, it's the ability to perform a song as an individual with their own style that the song itself represents and our country stands for. Being an individual. Having opinions. Being different. That's America. Sure...some sound better than other to the ear. But as long as the flag is up and waving, people are respectful and the song is sung with the correct words...it's still respectful and correct.
Just my opinion

i wonder how many people here have hear the whole song in it's entirety. It's better than you think when you read all the lyrics that aren't sung at events

Katie does it the best. I also enjoy the rendition by the harmonica guy and miss the guy that used to play it on the saxaphone/trumpet
To me, live renditions of the anthem (sung or played) are a must for any major events/races over recordings. Just makes it seem more meaningful (most cases anyway)

The version sung by Dan( the lotto man) around the Sioux Falls area is quite good as well in my opinion. Not quite the traditional version, but he puts his heart and soul into it as well and the crowd seems to enjoy it.

Why do you have to group "Protesters" with "degenerates & evil"?????
