Port Royal Speedway to Remove Xtreme Stock Division Beginning in 2020

By- Justin Snyder

PORT ROYAL, Pa- After careful consideration, the Port Royal Speedway officials and the Speedway Race Committee has made the tough decision to eliminate the Xtreme Stock Series from racing competition beginning in 2020.

A semi-regular division since the 2014 racing season, dwindling car counts and a lack of support are two of the main reasons Speedway officials came to this tough decision.

Past champions in the division are Bill Powell, Jason Zook, Pete Leister, Bill Powell (2) and the 2019 Track Champion, Brad Mitch. 25 different drivers claimed victories at the Speedway since 2014, with Powell being the all-time leader at 31.

We thank all the teams, sponsors and drivers for their support over the years. You are forever a part of the history of ‘The Speed Palace’ and your contribution to the sport is one of many reasons Port Royal Speedway will continue to grow into the future.

It's about time.  Now one more step, get rid of the boring as well 355 Late Models as well.

Amen. Although they do provide a nice opportunity to go have a piss or B.S. with friends.

They usually don't run heats and run the feature last so I am not sure how they disturb anyone.

I like the Limited LM class. They put on good racing . I compare them to the 305 or 358 sprint car class as an alternative to the 410 and Super Late Model class as a feeder division or a less expensive class to race.

I know it won't happen, but wish all shows were 2 div.

I don't mind the 3 division weekly shows, but "special" shows 2 divisions definately preferred.

Right there with you. I don't mind the 3 division shows. Not a fan of the fendered stuff but like I said before, it's a good opportunity to go for a walk & catch up with friends. Special shows should definitely be 2 division & I'd go so far as to say that the Tuscarora 50 has grown to the point where it should be a stand along sprint car only show like the National Open.

I won't miss 'em, tho....

You're fortunate if your weekly shows are three divisions.  Where I live most tracks come in with six or seven and for most it's all Stock and Mod classes.  I seldom go to weekly shows anymore on account of too many divisions.  We have a limited non wing class that's fun to watch but it comes with a lot of other racing.

There are hot spots and there are not spots.

Local racing scene 35 miles from my house equals 5 weekends a year,  3 classes a weekend with about 18 cars total except the last weekend where they might get 50 cars over 3 classes.

All have fenders and none go fast.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I would gladly take one of those divisions over the 50 legend cars that show up to lincoln 2 or more times a month.  They are less exciting than 305s on a half mile. We all know the back gate pays a lot of the tracks bills so it is what it is.

Hopefully more tracks follow suit & cut some classes that are there just for pit pass money. I think all of us know they are there but I'd much rather pay more money at the gate & have less junk classes. I've gone to some tracks & a wiener dog race would have been more exciting & better received than what was actually on the track

Aside from the #2 dominating every race, the LLM's usually have pretty good racing.
