The sign of the stronger man is restraining from dropping the F bomb in victory lane.  I could list many reasons for exercising self control but all I'm going to say is "Sprint Car racing, the sport that starts the evening with prayer and ends it with the F-bomb blaring over the PA".  I make this point for all the children and people who either don't use that kind of language or those like myself who know every word imaginible and use them profuesly but am able to restrain myself when they're not appropriate.  Hand me a mic 100 times and I'll f'ing guarantee you I won't drop the f-bomb in those circumstances no mater how excited I am.

I spent a career with a fortune 500 company and know the kind of image large companies want to project.  I'm certain that no large companies want their name associated with victory lane profanity if it should became a regular thing.  Hopefully this little bit of discussion will make drivers think twice about how they'll celebrate big wins.  If I knew Brad I'd be game to sit around the fire celebrating and dropping the f-bomb right along with everyone.  I just think that as role models and representing sponsors they need to set a good example in victory lane. It was a great race and thrilling win that stands up quite nicely without the language.

PS, my son-in-law has a popular Minneapolis based rock band that has opened for some big name acts.  Buckcherry, Texas Hippie Coalition, Bret Michaels of Poison fame and Steel Panther come to mind off the top of my head.  This is one of their music videos, note the chorus...  VIA Room 104  I'm not going to post anything by Steel Panther but if anyone is curious search for them and watch one of their videos.  My point is that I go to see the band and have absolutely no issues when the first thing my son-in-law says when taking the stage is something to the effect of "Are you ready to rock?  Then let's get this f'ing party started".  I have gone to see them many times and even sat in on some practice sessions on guitar.  Nope, words do not offend me but I expect to hear that from a rock band and they'd probably lose customers if they cleaned up their act.  I'm not so sure that racing is ready to go the way of metal concerts.

And some of you may know that I used to write for publications and take photos.  I've got a personal experience that taught me that words do matter with sponsors, tracks and sanctions.  On June 16, 2016 I returned from a long hot day at the "Back to the 50's" street rod show at our state Fairgrounds.  I had some beers in the fridge but couldn't recall how many so I stopped for more on the way home.  Well, to make a long story short I was parched, they went down way too easy and I made a comment in social media about an event that included a reference to the track owners as "those f'ers".  Well, I have the utmost respect for them and certainly didn't mean anything by it and used that word where I shouldn't have.  By the time I rolled out the next morning and my wife jumped on me about the post the damage had already been done.  Now three years later age and physical limitations have decided that I'll never keep up that pace anymore but if I wanted to I couldn't beg borrow or steal a pit pass without paying the going rate.  I'm past all that but I learned two valuable lessons, one is don't throw those words around indiscriminantly and two, don't go on Facebook after exceeding six beers.  Age has tempered my beer consumption but I shot myself in the foot as far as ever going into the WoO trailer to upload my photos to their laptop at the end of the night again.  So words do have consequences.  ;)
