Isn't time for a speedweek for sprint cars here in Iowa? There has to be 5 to 7 tracks in Iowa that would host races. I will throw out a few. Farley Speedway, Dubuque Speedway, I34 Raceway, Knoxville Raceway, Rock Rapids Speedway. I am sure there are others. Lets get the ball rolling and maybe by next summer we can have our own speedweeks instead of watching it PA and Indiana on PPV. Let the debate begin. Can't wait to read others thoughts and suggestions on it.

Well currently you can attend 12 sprint car races in 15 days at a total of three different tracks. I’m not really sure if add more races would be beneficial to both fans and drivers. I wouldn’t mind more variety of track either but the situation is just different with these being multiple day shows. Plus the more I travel away from Knoxville the more I realize Knoxville is the top of the top.

With all due respect to the other Speedweeks, Iowa Speedweek is my favorite one of all.

I'd agree this already exists. If you're wanting something similar to Indiana and PA, then it would need to be on a different time frame b/c of the multi day event of the 360 and 410 Nationals. I'm Fine with how it is already, less travel, different group of cars and drivers.

Promoting is a tough job except it's pretty easy from a keyboard when our livelihood isn't on the line.  Even though Nationals week isn't billed as Speedweeks that is essentially what it is.  Midweek Sprint Car races at Stock Car and Modified tracks can be risky and adding more events always has a tipping point where fans and racers budgets and vacation maxes out.

Agreed 100%! I don’t want tracks to take big risks and come up short and potentially hurt their weekly programs that I also attend. I really love what Burlington and Rudeen are doing with 26,000 to win Sunday night with the All Stars but just hope they get the crowd as you say most have to work and vacation gets maxed out.

"You can sheer a sheep many times but you can skin him only once."  My man Matt Damon said that in the movie Rounders.

The race fans fur is getting mighty close to the skin these days.

Don't forget the Bell Helmets Capitani Classic on Sunday August 4.  One of the best races of the 10 days!

All great thoughts and insights. When I think of a speedweek, I am thinking of different tracks over 5 to 7 days which challenges the drivers. Not 4 nights at the same track. I would say a mid to late June time frame so it is 45 to 60 days before the Nationals.

I never heard that one but now that I think of it that's what my racing budget looks like for this weekend.  I over spent earlier in the month and the wool is pretty close to the skin.

It’s a sweet deal to see 3/4 of the cars racing nationals race once night with a pole shuffle and no support classes for a $20 ticket.
