The 49 is dominating. Possibly the start of a new dynasty.

He's been bad fast over the past month, but he's got a lot more dominating to do to surpass the 15.

I agree with Army, Sweet is Baaaaad fast right now but he’s got aaround 250 wins to go give or take to catch Schatz. And if ya think Schatz is washed up, I was in the stands tonight and that dash may have been the best dash I’ve ever seen and Schatz made some MOVES in that race that made me pucker to go from 6th to second. Sweet won tonight, but it was a split second bobble in turn four, a brief hesitation by Logan behind a lapped car that Sweet capitalized on for the win. Once they got going it was a fast last 20 laps. Great race in my mind.

Not necessarily.   This may be a rare off year for Donny, and it's happened before.   Anyone remember several years ago when Joey Saldana drove the KKR #9?   He won 21 races that year and Schatz only won 9.   At the end of the year though Schatz was still the champion and I believe won Knoxville that year too.   Kinda hard to call that an off year I guess.

Isnt this the time of year when the conspiracy theorists always claim Schatz had traction control?  Maybe thats why Sweet is running so good?  And that was sarcasm folks.

Biggest races of the year coming up..dont be surprised to see Schatz up front in those.

I think Sweet has learned to be fast at the end of the race and not use up his car/tires in the first half of the feature. He's now got the patience and confidence to close these races out. See last years Knoxville Nationals. His team also has good funding to compete with TSR.

Obviously he has a long ways to go and Donny is far from washed up but dominance has to start somewhere and traditionally winning your first nationals can be a breakthrough for huge success. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Sweet win 20 some races next few years and get a couple championships.

I agree M and G, I think Donny misplaced his traction control and obviously Brad found it.

As a Brad Sweet fan I hope so, but I think we are jumping ahead of ourselves. I think the past few years he has developed into one of the top drivers in the country & now seems to be trying to take the next step. As a fan I picked him to win the title just as being a hopeful fan.

4-5 years ago watching him it seemed like he would focus on a line & stay with it. Now he goes everywhere on the track and it always searching for lines. Seems to be more aggressive in traffic too & races with confidence. He is in the zone & hope it continues.

in the past few weeks Brad has beat Donny 4 straight times in head to head duals looks to me the worm has turned and on race monitor you can see the reason  Brad is faster. does not look good for Donny

This is exactly right......the 49 TEAM is learning to get the car right to be fast at the end of the race and Brad is managing his tires well being consistent and handling lap cars very well. The confidence a team gets when they get on a roll like this helps the mental aspect of it as well. If he stays hot and doesnt cool off anytime soon there may be a new champion come november

Leading the points this late is a real accomplishment. We’re almost halfway through the season and he’s got a sizable lead. If Schatz does get it going PA might be a place where he can make up the difference as he’s still better than Sweet there.

Does anyone know if it's a possibility that tricky Ricky gets out of the house for a second half comeback????

Pretty sure Ricky is working on the Ford with Shaver and Durham(sp), at least that was inferred on a recent tweet from TSR

Always a possibility but I think for that teams long term future they should probably keep things the way they are & work out the bugs. I wouldn't pull the plug too early on the guy who has to fill Ricky's shoes. He is in a no win situation no matter what. Take the licks, give them time to figure out mistakes, and improve.
