Here are some visuals for you.
First off, we pit all the cars outside of the infield, and last year we removed the infield concession stand, so there's literally no obstucted viewing - other than - what one of the posters referenced at the bottom of corner 1, due to the track shortening 7 years ago.
It's now a 1/3 mile super wide high bank (70' wide all the way around) and the drivers will tell you the reconfiguration has led to much much more passing and still has super high speeds. We recently had a former Knoxville videographer come to a sprint show and his exact comments were: 'this is like a mini Eldora' and he added that 'it was one of the best sprint shows he'd seen in a long time'
Redarding exact seating, IMO it really depends on what type of experience you like to have. The center sections are bucket (reserved) seats, while both sides of that are bleachers without backs. The layout is just like Huset's and Eldora, for example, where upon arrival, the track is located below 'ground' level and the grandstand is built in to the ground, not elevated.
Above the top row is the concourse, and as you can see in this picture, fans are allowed to line 1 row with their own personal lawn chairs (and handicap) the entire length of the frontstretch; but this seating area is first come, first served; so if you want one of those seats, all I can say is the stands open by 2pm that day, and you'll want to get there early to grab one.
Like a lot of tracks, sometimes there's some dust, sometimes there's not. That being said, check the wind direction on race day to see how that might play a factor on your seat location.
The main concession stands and restrooms are right at the north edge of the reserved and general seating border - as shown below.
What's awesome is, if you are standing in line for food or beer, you don't miss a lap of racing, because of the configuration of the concession stands. But if you're the type that likes to go up and down several times a night, definitely get an aisle seat close to the concession stands.
Obviously, the higher you go, the less possible dust than the lower seats. But if you want 'in your face racing' I'd sit about 10 rows up 1/2 way between corner 4 and the flagstand.
We also have a VIP terrace that sits above the stands, but it's not available for this event (that's where I shot this pic from).
Coolers or outside food is not allowed through the main ticket gate, however food/drinks are very reasonably priced. For example, a bottle of water at the Super Bowl last week was $6, at LoneStar it's $1, a domestic beer was $13, at LoneStar it's $3. You get the drift. Tailgating in the parking lot is just fine as long as you clean up your area afterwards.
I'll follow up with a couple more pics, and you'll get a good feel. Lighting at LoneStar is spectacular throughout the facility, whether walking to the restroom or any point on the track or stands - and none of it is glaring in your face (which drives me absolutely crazy at some other tracks).
Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we'll have another great night of racing. Click www.LoneStarSpeedway.com or visit our Facebook page for regular event updates, pics and videos by searching 'LoneStar Speedway'. :)
