yes this a complaint thread, will be professional. First two nights at Volusia get back to condo right around 11:00 after a 40 minute ride.
Four heats of sprints, two dashes, Bmain and Feature along with 6 modified heats. Even reworked the track Tuesday before the feature for a half hour.
Two hours to run the show. Modest crowd as usual for All Stars.
Last night, fewer races and get back at midnight. Stands were jammed pack, uncomfortably so.
4 heats, a dash and a Bmain, and feature along with two 15 lap modified features.
Last night we are jammed like sardines and there were four sets of interviews. Only two modified races compared to six heats on Wednesday and Thursday. The mods had a ton of cautions last night and the folks in the pit stands are shaking their heads. Yes it happens, I get it. The place was standing room only and lets face it, there to watch the Outlaws. They run four heats a dash and a Bmain, all caution free mind you and that takes maybe 30 minutes of actual push off to checkered flag.
Do we really need to interview the top three finishers of the mod races when we’re behind schedule and we all have knees in our backs because the event is a huge success? Interview the winner and keep the show moving please.
With social media we are so much more connected to the drivers than when I attended my first race in 1983. I was attracted by the racing and the sound of engines. Last night it was over the top pomp and circumstance and why I attend fewer and fewer shows every year.
Trying to give constructive criticism to make a point. We all like an efficient show, if it gets out of whack, make adjustments to keep the racing on the track. Hard to complain when there are cars on the track. We aren’t there to hear constant noise over the PA, it’s nice to actually be able to talk to those around and five minutes of silence does us all well, lol.
All in all, been attending Volusia for many years and last night wasn’t typical of the way they normally run shows here which is why I come here. Don’t turn it into a show that’s not about the actual great racing that we all know and love.
Congrats to Sheldon and looking forward to tonight and tomorrow.
