To bad I am a SUCKER for good racing! Trying to talk my wife into going. Yes I am pissed about it, but still love good racing. Hot laps start at 5:45, Qualifying at 7... Maybe we can make it after all?

They are expecting a ton of rain late this evening into tomorrow afternoon across pretty much the whole state. If Lima cant take much water wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen.
There is a silver lining, forecast for Friday and Saturday looking good now.

That is what I hoping for with that silver lining. Looked at the hourly forecast and it does look like they would have some "time" to dry out the track. Its a little sentimental for me as it was the place I saw my first sprint car race so I always enjoy going there. Just are not a lot of opportunities to get there with all the canceling they do each year. Saturday looks good but unfortunately no able to make it at that time either due to having to babysit for some friends as they attend a funeral. Would take their son to Wayne County on Saturday but they want to be there for his first race too.
I know their were a few years when the Doty was at Lima where it rained horribly and they were able to get the show in the next day. Trying this new optimist thing out this year instead of being a realist.

The problem is all the rain that’s already occurred. If it was a normal summer they’d be able to race Friday with the rain they’ll get tomorrow. But everything has gotten so wet the last week, multiple inches of rain and most of Ohio will end up with one of the wettest months ever.

Of course its not all about me! But do you think I am the only one that is in the same boat(no pun intended). Bet your going and probably live up that way, me... No 2 1/2 hours away. If the shoe was on the other foot you would be irritated too
BTW, I have been to MANY tracks, Beaver Dam, Eldora, Knoxville, Terra Haute, Charlotte, Lawrencburg, Williams Grove, Lernerville, etc... I loved all those tracks.

2-1/2 hours and the show will be over pretty quickly with no support classes. I bet you will be home before midnight. Heck yeah I would be there if I could and support this deal. I wish I lived near so I could drive 2-1/2 hours to see a race on a Wednesday.

I wish them luck, but there is a ton of risk involved with this plan. I doubt that this will be the new model for rain dates. Way too easy for something to go wrong with the logisitics and way too easy for the crowd not to support it.

Anyone at the track to tell us how the crowd is? I know it's a special circumstance with speedweek & tracks being close by & teams have already traveled a long distance. I don't think this will become the new model with rain dates in general but it could show how social media, internet, and other media can spread the word quickly.
Maybe this can show promoters that they can move up start times if rain is threatening late in the evening. Can't really plan for weather but you can at least have some alternatives

Worried about racing ? What about the fields that hasn't & won't be planted this year ? This is the 1st year since being recorded (1970) that it has been this bad.
I often thought that they could do this sort of thing that WCS is doing tonight & the racers can make a dime or 2. I sure would have went if I could have but....
Social Media will have had a ton to do with throwing this race together.

Hats off to Wayne County for successfully pulling this off tonight. Looked like a very good crowd given the circumstances and the track was in decent enough shape given the weather. They deserve an absolute packed house on Saturday for the finale

Crown was VERY good from all the people I talked too! I had to stay home last minute due to work issues. The ones bitching because it effected them personally and would rather there wasnt a race when many fans and teams have spend big $$ just sitting idle all week are truly amazing how self centered this world has became

I live in Columbus, get off work at 430, was going to go to Atomic, but not driving up to Wayne County(been there before) its 2 1/2 hours, I'd make it for the start of the heats if I am lucky... Total BS All Stars, stick your your schedule! Wayne was suppose to race Monday night, then were gonna race last night if Sharon couldn't, now they are taking Atomic's race. TOTAL BS! The race track isn't that good anyways, and the stands suck!

Conservative here, I also think your an asshole for being so bitter about the race switching locations. Yes they pissed off some people but the overwhelming support they had speaks for itself. Sorry, calling a spade a spade. The teams that committed to run Ohio Speedweek that have tens of thousands of dollard tied up into this week all seemed ok with the switch. It didnt work out in your favor this time but next time someone else might be in your shoes and the race might show up on your doorstep.

I don't disagree with you, but what's the point of calling someone an asshole? I can't imagine having that kinda money wrapped up into a race car/team. I give those guys all the credit in the world, we know they don't actually make any money, hats off to them! I was frustrated cause they moved the show, but glad they got in a race at least. Hopefully they will be able to race the rest of them and not have any rain!
