I come here once or twice a week, but ever time i leave shaking my head at BStrawser26.  I made a comment about him a month or so ago, but my comment went missing, so i guess i upset him.

He bitches so much about Port but has not went there this year.  He's been to Lincoln 2 times.  I guess if i went to the races as much as him i would have more time to sit on here and run down Port.  It gets old, real old.

Here's the kicker: he doesn't go to those places. He sits at home watching lap times. Port's surface sucked Saturday. That he's right about. Once again, if that had been Williams Grove or Lincoln people would be bitching to no end but since it's Port, they were ok with it but that's a whole different subject. That said, despite the bad track, the 2nd feature ended up being a good race. Port has been very good lately. Saturday, they just missed it a little bit but it was still good enough for some decent racing. I was there and I was entertained. The dust made it a bit difficult to watch because from where I sat, turn 4 was pretty much invisible but all in all, it was a good night. I don't care what track it is, they all miss on track prep sometimes. Saturday it was dry and very breezy. I'm sure that had a lot to do with it. I think it would've been a lot better if they'd watered the outside like they usually do but that isn't my call to make. Either way, I still had way more fun being there than I would have sitting at home watching lap times looking for something to bitch about. Strawser needs to get a life.

I think people don't bitch so much about Port(other than Strawser) is because the track generally produces good races even when it seems like it is too dry, slick and slow. I've gone there a few times over the last few years when 410 TT's were in the 18's thinking it was going to be terrible, but surprise....the top held up all night(very close to the guradrail) and I left happy after seeing some good multi-groove racing. Somehow the place defies traditional track prep logic.

Will there ever be a thread about a race in Central PA where people don't talk about track prep & specifically Port Royal track prep. I watch highlights of races at Port and really do not see anything terribly wrong with it. If you don't want to go to the track or don't like the racing, then simply don't spend your money to go. But persistently bitching about it on a message board thread after thread post after post isn't going to change it. Tracks listen to money.

By the way Congrats to Logan Wagner, since that is what the original topic was about. Great run

One thing I love about Port is the residential houses off the back stretch. Is this track right in the community?  Seems like anyone going over the back wall might end up bouncing on some toddlers trampoline.

Wife took me to the Grove in 2017, it was great, just wish we could have hit 3 or 4 of the tracks in the same week.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Yep, right in town, but not close enough to be a danger

Beautiful view from the bleachers, & a very pretty drive from Harrisburg/WG area. Main highway is nice, back roads even better

Good points.... soil is different everywhere

I went to a sprint car race in New Hampshire once. Black & dusty track, almost looked like woodstove ashes! I missed the winning last turn pass.... they enter turn 4, black cloud, new leader. But at least there was passing, tho it was invisible....

I watched it on speedshift last night along with Lincoln and Stateline Speedway.  We also had dirtvision running.  Some good racing but from all these tracks....but, I swear someone has stolen the water truck keys! Most of these tracks were wore out before the features started rolling out onto the track.....in some cases it was like racing on aspalt.  Since the early  80's I have been going to dirt track racing and I don't like what I am seeing at all these tracks.  There is very little excitement anymore at these tracks.  They better wake up soon.  Nobody want to see napcar type racing!

You can save yourself some time typing. Just post your name, we know what you're gonna say....

I have been to most of the tracks here in Ohio and have watched almost all of them dump tons of water on the surface to get it ready. I have even seen races where it has rained in the middle of the event and it is still dusty for the feature. Just the nature of the soil & clay here I guess. I have even heard rumors of some tracks putting some sort of chemical in the water trucks to help with the dust problem but have not been able to confirm if that is fact or not. Experience wise is fine and you really don't notice it because the dust goes up and not into your sight as much. For the camera people and videos it looks a lot more dusty than what it is if you are there. But when the racing ends and the dust comes down you do have a bit of a dirt bath on you. Nothing really to complain about as almost all of the features I have seen have been good to great

Congrats to Logan Wagner and good to see the Zemco team winning races.

Also, I am just posting so that a thread about Logan Wagner actually has more than 3 posts that have to do with actual thread title.

back in the 80's I used to go every Friday.... Saturday... and Sunday.  In the 90's I went every once in a while.  Now, I barely go....why you ask track conditions and I don't mean dusty. This problem  has been at a lot of tracks lately.  We have been watching on dirtvison and speedshift. Tracks are wore out way before the features start. These tracks need to bring back the excitement....the way they are prepared this year equals very boring racing for the feature.  I will never say anything about it being dusty.... dusty doesn't mean the track is wore out.  At some tracks if it's dusty you are going to see a great feature without the track being wore out.

When you watch on TV you don't see the entire race.   The races this year and the past 4-5 years at Port have been better then they been since i started going to the races in the mid-late 80's.  You have to see the entire race not what you see on TV.  I don't go to the races for the track conditions, i go for good racing.  If they are running 15 second laps or 19 second laps, if the racing is close who cares?  Sprint car racing isn't made for TV, you don't get the experiece you get when your at the track.

So let me get this straight. You don't go to the race track anymore to watch the races because of track conditions but still pay to wacth them online? If the racing is so "boring" why are you still buying it?? Sounds like quite the contradiction to me ...

I was at someone else's house and they had it on.  We saw the feature from lincoln, Allstar feature, and the Woo features that night as well.  They were the only ones I was interested in.  I could careless what happens at the Slow palace.  The best race of that night was at Lincoln, followed by the Allstar feature, and then the Woo feature.

That is wrong.  The races at the slow palace are very boring the last 4 to 5 years.  I have been there 2 in that time frame and I almost left both times because of the track conditions!
