here's a legit question for the Posse fans that I've often wandered.

What track up there is best in your opinion? I don't mean the most cars or anything like that I mean Track prep, racing surface, passing, you know........the best TRACK.

I've never been to any of them but it sounds to me like it is NOT the Grove. Could it be Port Royal? Lincoln? Selinsgrove?

As far as the actual racing goes, Lincoln is hands down the best track in central PA. Port Royal, Williams Grove and Selinsgrove area ll huge half-miles and the field tends to spread out at those tracks. At Lincoln, most features are a battle through traffic. Since Lincoln is a smaller track, the cars starting up front most weeks are fast enough to win if the breaks go their way.

As far as history and atmosphere, Williams Grove is the place where all the best teams in central Pennsylvania race. A lot of times, the first fast car to the front at the Grove, be it Rahmer, Dewease, Hodnett or Esh will win the feature.

As far as MSPN's "World's Slowest Half-Mile" claim, don't read too much into that. The lap times at the Grove are higher than some other places because it is a true half-mile.

OKC.........for pure action, passing and excitement........for me it's Grandview. The place is a bit run down and doesn't have a spec of Central PA red clay on it, but the racing there is second to none. The big cars (410's) are only there a few times a year which is a shame. The joint is racey.

Lincoln has splendid action and the best in PA as far as track prep........Fred Putney. If you get a green feature at Lincoln.......you wonder what could ever be better.

WG is a beautiful facility and their track prep is fantastic also. The Friday field of cars is second to none.......and the atmosphere is electric. The Tilton Hilton and BeerHill give the joint character..........no better money ($12) could be spent on a friday than at WG.

Bahama..........show me an example brother. Just cut and paste an example. Otherwise you are nothing more than a Mulligan parrot/cheerleader.

By the way last year I watched 410's, 358's, URC (360's), Sportsmen, Midgets, Lates, SuperLates, Mod's, Sportsman Mod's, WoO and NST cars compete. I don't even want to begin to tell you how many different cars that is, but in the 410 and 358 sprint cars alone I'd say 150 different cars/drivers. All this was in PA only..............6 other states were also visited last year for racing purposes.

Drak, just a quick comment about your post. Grandview is actually the closest track to my house (11 miles) and I haven't even been to a Sprint show there the past three years. I went there nearly every week for about 10 years and the place didn't always to have such deplorable track conditions.

I can accept dust as part of racing, but I refuse to get blasted in the face by heavy dust in hot laps. In the 1980s, Grandview really was an awesome track. When you look at all the housing developments springing up around the track and the fact that the Rogers' have not spent a dime in improvements in 15 years, I kinda wonder how much time that speedway has left.

Agreed single...........G-View is a shadow of it's former self. It's the closest track for me also.........~20 miles. Many a great open wheel show there. The mods are even entertaining there when they aren't wreckin' every other lap. 1999 Speedweek show there was one of the best races I have ever seen.

Drak,

Been on here for years, just remembering arguments from the past, unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, I just do not have time to research hundreds of prior posts to prove a point to someone I have no interest in debating with. Perhaps you yourself haven't made those statements and many others haven't but they have certainly been made.

Mike is a friend, and he has an opinion many people disagree with, so what. I've known the guy for 15 years or more and would stand beside him in a fight. Don't consider myself a parrot or a cheerleader, just someone who is not shy about calling someone a friend despite someone elses opinion, or for fear of a little ridicule, I believe it's called charector or even integrity, look them up they may serve you well some day.

Understood Bahama........you have my respect. The street runs both ways my friend, I carry the same sentiment about my beliefs. I have been ridiculed by the best.

It is simply hard to sit still and take what Mikey and others accuse people of if there is no pudding to back the claim. Some facts have become facts simply because folks say them over and over again.wink

Drak is a Dude I'd go into a fight with anywhere, anytime also. I may not have known him 15 years, but he's been as steady as can be and he stands by his beliefs, as do I. They don't come any more genuine and honest as he does. And he has no agenda nor does he go out of his way to make remarks about teams when no one was bragging about them to begin with. The cheap shots Mikey takes at the Posse teams and fans are sometimes unnecessary (read how this thread started). To some of us, it's very old and worn out. Move on people - hasn't this gone on long enough?

Thanks for info fellas. I really hope to see a PA race on TV that is NOT run at Williams Grove. I'm sure if I ever went there I would love it, but on TV it's just not that exciting most of the time, sometimes it is. A buddy I have here in OKC says I would like it a lot. I saw a race on the Outdoor Channel that was ran at Lernerville I think. It was a pretty good one. But what I really want to see is Lincoln, Port Royal, and Selinsgrove.

I was wondering what divisions they ran alog with sprints at most of those tracks, but I'll surf around the net and check that one out, but I do have 1 other question?

Those tracks in PA that run sprints..........whats the max. attendance for those sprint tracks up in PA? And how much attendence to most get regularly?

How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

Personal opinion..........television does not do this form of racing justice. Be it at K-Ville, The E, WG, or anywhere else for that matter.........I just don't think TV can capture the action.

I gotta agree with Drak 100% on the television. The best thing about TV is that it feels more like a real event with the driver interviews right after they step out of the car ... or The Dude having a conversation with his dad.

As far as max attendace at The Grove ... I think you could fit about 427,000 Mexicans in there ... maybe 428,000 if you let them stand on the bridge all night.

OKC- I can tell you that Lincoln is PACKED on most Saturdays from april thru till the end of October. . By packed I mean that most all seats in the stands are full, and the infield is also full. I have heard that it can hold about 5-7 thousand people. I would say on a regular Saturday that it is close to 3000 maybe 4. Speedweeks- its filled to the Brim. (the numbers are GUESSES)

Lincoln is my favorite track, Williamsgrove second and then Selinsgrove. All amazing tracks for different reasons.

I bought reserved seats at Lincoln to make sure I got a spot for when I was late getting there!
