Hi Mike!  I'm a little late to check in to this thread but better late than never I guess.  I too have been around since the Open Wheel Wizard days before coming over to Hosehead's.  Remember the "Wings are for Fairies" debates that used to rage over there.  Still a somewhat regular reader here but seldom post anymore.  Like many others have said, the haters, name callers and overall bad attitudes have severely diminished my enjoyment of this forum.  I figure it is what it is so I pretty much just skim and move on.

Thanks for starting this thread!  Brought back a lot of memories of some folks I'd actually forgotten and it's good to hear from some of the others who are still around.

LOL, dang it took a while to have a negative nancy, congrats there j20.  I worked in the sport for a long time, saw over 100 races a year, hung out with sprint car people year round and I think I did know what was going on.  Met thousands of sprint fans, sold many more times that in photos and saw races in 3 different countries and 29 States, I had a clue and I had some haters, you're not alone, sorry.....

PS  Hey Todd I bet the kids are adults now, maybe even married, you were a great sprint car family and I will remember my first trip to Husets in particular.  Was it you that was calling the race on the radio in a booth up there not far from the Afdahl's?

Mike, you are the idiot. Just because you think "traveling across the country watching races for years" makes you cool or informed doesn't mean it is true. You prove that being to races doesn't mean you have a clue. No one respects your opinions because they are laughable, so please look at yourself in the mirror when you make this type of thread. Pot, kettle, black, etc.

This was a friendly thread among old friends until you came along.  I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were looking for another subject and took a wrong turn.

After all these years,  you still got it Mike!    You can still bring out the vile in someone with the most innocent and well intentioned post!

Hoser since around 2000.or slightly earlier.  Pong, jazz , muddy, foxy, shoff, racing widow, chilly fastasu, n2dirt, Ethel, I know most of them are still around But haven't checked in.  My first unofficial Hoser meeting occurred at Joplin WoO show in 2004.

pretty sure my daughter lurks here on occasion Smile

Weve had some great times with the sprint car community!  Most notably, Shawn McDonalds trips to Iowa. 2007 queens contest at Knoxville And who could forget the first couple years at Oskaloosas Front row challenge post race parties!

i miss those days, but my liver doesn't..

Your Daughter DJ might have been the single best helper I ever had at the Nationals and she was about 10/11 at the time.  It became obvious she would do well in life and boom she is now a successful trauma nurse, with a husband and baby, man that makes us old Rollie, lol.....

Gday Mike.. I read.. Laugh occasionally.. Cringe more than laugh.. The hatred and personal attacks are a real shame.  I guess it's just an indicator of society's hatred of what used to be called healthy discussions of differing points of view.. People don't seem to understand sarcasm or humor anymore.

I have been told specifically by many of those for whom I speak and their reason was virtually the same in every instance, moronic posters/haters.  Why would someone come on and contribute with first person knowledge only to be bashed by some no talent, no brain poster from his Mom's basement, it happened and it ended for many of the old regulars....

There are way to many people that like to hide behind their keyboards, it's always fun to check in here. I just wish I could get to more races. Take it easy, as someone used to say.

Wow, I am very late to the party, don't check in here much due to twitter and other reasons listed on this thread. Always been a somewhat silent poster, but have been a member since 2000 or so. I think I am the reason my high school back in the day blocked most all internet websites, we only had dial up internet at my house so anything racing relating with photos I had to check out at high school! I was always jealous of the old hosers reunions because I was too young to attend.

MSPN, I spent hours starring at photos in your booth back in the day at the nationals. I am now fortunate enought to camp with rpmx during the best week of summer. Todd, my dad actually bought some photos from year from the one time raced at Huset's in 2006 in the non wing sprint class. Small world how many people are still here. Sprint car racing is by far the coolest thing on Earth and this has made me excited to check back in. Enjoy the races!

Hey, some more oldies have arrived, great news and a nice smile here this morning.  Tyler, spent a lot of time with rpmx back in the day, almost always stopped to visit him after the Nationals on my way to CA, what a wonderful and amazingly talented man and a pretty fun wife to boot.

Stubb, you are an original and this place misses your observations and input and I might even surprise ya' with a short stop at this years Royal, I am supposed to pick-up a treat from an Aussie friend who is to be there, might take the rocket out for a run.  Made some very nice coin on the Hawks winning the Cup this year, will celebrate with the Mrs. if I make it there...

Cobra, your insight and contributions are certainly missed in this forum almost as much as I miss seeing you and our great debates from the past, those were some of the best days and bonuses from being associated with this place.  I hope this finds you and yours in a doing better than well these days.  Are you still racing, golfing?

Jazbro, hmmm, I knew a Jazz38, former cop from the Knoxville area, great fun family there, any connection?  Later....

Raymond's was Shorttracking.com.....Openwheel Wizard was Eric Gutteromson, I believe out of Colorado.

correct,  The Open Wheel Wizard was hosted by JRG Media (nice clip art) out of Lakewood Colorado.

Years ago they hosted some video of someone connected to the company taking a hard ride a midget at the (then dirt) Colorado National Speedway.

I was in the media booth at Huset's the night you and NoDust joined us. Hot Rod Pattison and Steve Zwemke were calling the race on the radio. I was covering it for the local paper. Todd was probably doing the announcing from the infield.

This is exactly what MSPN is talking about, thanks for making his point even more valid, LOL.

But, I can go back as far as the old AOL message boards, and we had our own sprint car board. It was neat to have the people that we did have. Not going to mention any names, but most of them never post any more because of the "fans" like j20s. What is the point of trying to talk to people, and keep them informed when they have people like this every four or five post? Hard to blame it on "social media" when the old message boards were the original social media.

Still looking for a hemlet dryer. Maybe there is one in Poland? Sold by someone named Duane? Damn, tried to wrap up two of the most iconic post ever on hoseheads in one sentance. lol.
