Anybody hearing any rumors as to drivers losing rides or switching teams yet?
|
Is KKR ditching the Outlaws ?
1. Kasey quietly pulled off the Outlaw tour in August and has been racing more frequently.
2. Brad says he will compete in the High Limit series races next season so he will not be eligible for the WoO Platinum benefits.
Anybody got any rumors to go along with those 2 facts ?

Sweet running this new series would not be a surprise. Let's not forget he is now a partner in owning a racetrack. Running a true outlaw schedule would give him more time to be back on the west coast. These guys today have more frequent flyer miles than drivers did previously. Gravel just had a new baby boy, you have to wonder what his in tensions are going forward.

Justin Fiedler interviewed, who used to be part of the Open Red podcast, has been doing his own, Dirt Tracker podcast. He recently interviewed Brad. Brad said he plans on running all of the races, which will mainly be midwest based, and no races in CA.
It'll be up to the WOO to decide if they let drivers run all 12 High Limit races. Brad also states he doesn't plan to take away from what the WOO has, and that the midwest HL races will be in route to the next WOO race.
What Brad doesn't say is if the WOO doesn't allow their drivers to race the HL races, what Brad willl do. I don't see any of the drivers dropping off the series b/c they can't race.
They briefly discuss sharing revenue from the streaming services, which I THINK will be most of what the HL series will benefit from. I think Brad wants to see more transparency from WRG and possibly more of that filtering down to the drivers and owners. I'm not sure how this will play out, and have doubts about the long term possibility. Usually things like this will force the larger entities to adjust and improve.

So basically High Limit is using the Late Model Floracing Race Night in America model is what you're saying. I just go back to the owners and drivers bitching about too many midweek shows in the not too distant past, so the series adapted and gave them what they wanted, which was fewer midweek shows. If they now have decided they want more midweek shows, all WRG has to do is make a few phone calls and I'm sure there are all kinds of tracks who would take a midweek WoO date on the way between two weekend destinations.

I'm not arguing one way or another. The drivers were bitching about mid week shows with cut purses, many of those shows were 6K to win 500 to start. Teams that are running in the top 10 all year spend 2K-4K every night to race.
If WRG was paying 20K to win and 2k to start for week day shows I think it would have a different feel.

That got brought up too, that a couple of years ago the drivers wanted less mid week shows. Like the previous response says, I think if the WOO bumped the purse up to a normal Friday Saturday show it's not an issue.
I'm guessing attendance would be off a bit for Monday - Thursday shows so WRG charges less to the promoter, and therefore the purse drop. I can understand why the WOO tried this. Try a track where the promoter has more potential risk, in hopes they may grow in the future and sustain a weekend show.

Exacatly. If the WOO struggles and had to cut purses for mid-week shows, I can't see how this new series is going to cut it while paying much higher purses. I can't see them making a whole lot from flo. Maybe having their own streaming service would make money. Someone's bankrolling it and that someone is probably just spending lots of money and getting little in return. That's OK I guess but I can't see it lasting.

There seems to be no slow down in these high paying, streaming mid week shows for late models and sprints
There are a few people out there who know the real math on what kind of $ streaming is making and it's more than people think. But they better be planning in a good cut for the track owners

Don't underestimate the revenue from streaming. Currently FLO's major sprint series is the All Stars. Now they can offer another series, with potentially some of the WOO drivers, and then the sponsorship packages they sell.

Flosports is much more than just racing. They cover a wide variety of sports and a quick google search seems to indicate that they have the resources to compete for market share. I'm not sure how that stacks up against the racing only channels but it would seem to put them in a unique position among companise that stream racing. It wasn't that many years ago that streaming offered low resolution and was too unreliable to attract much attention among fans. A combination of technology advances and improved connectivity has made it worth watching.

First, Why dose anyone think Macri needs a ride? I mean, Macri concrete just does not own the cars he drives but sponsors others and also tracks. Start zones etc. A added corporate sponsor and another crew member or two It's cross country.

I can't believe McFadden made the entire season in the Roth ride. I figured he would be sent down the road after Knoxville. (not that I would have-----just who he's driving for)

I assume there's some help from Kahne in the equation.
