Nothing wrong with making a profit. I want my track and my local builder to make a profit. This way they will stay in business.
HOWEVER, I have no desire to purchase a car that I can only get from one supplier, and if I get creative and build my own car that it is not legal in that series. How many sprint car chassis are there? How many modified chassis are there? IMCA rotinely gets bashed for "spec" parts with an IMCA stamp. Just imagine if the the entire car had to have be stamped.
I would much rather support my local car builder than some multi-millionare from NC.

You Sir, have an excellant point. ONE factory building all of the cars in this industry- would be an excellant formula for 'failure'.
If it really took off, local car builders would have to take over a big part of the fabrication. Just as Bruton(inc.) holds the rights to the Legends trademark, so too would this venture provide for those that own the papers. But then, that holds true for any venture such as this.
As it always has been- The idea is to have a passion to fuel a business, which in turn could feed the passion, and further fuel the business, and so on.............

Yes the above post is off thread, but then it was at a time when another interesting open wheel class was forming.

Damn....I love the old Super Modifieds! Showing my age? Great pictures guys!
Now Ray..........Park that SpeedSTR replacement and go buy one of those Jet Coupes. Much more impressive to me. I realize you and Bruton won't be making the big bucks selling/regulating cars but at least you stand a chance of promoting a class that might actually go somewhere. Maybe you can make some bucks doing that instead? That Jet Coupe is really, really nice. Noticed the photos show different rear suspension systems. Can someone elaborate? Where are these cars running? Are they just in Colorado?

What do you have against a driver making 10 times the money in NASCAR
He should stay poor so you can watch them?
They need to pay bills also.
Why do you think Steve tried it and Sammy did also

Pricing for a complete roller from Jet Coupe Racing starts at $13,000* (see Parts List below). Note that the roller does not include the engine and related engine items, drive shaft, seat, seat belts, gauges, brake lines, fuel lines or oil lines
Well He!!, for $20,00 it is a steal. The chassis is a spec part, but the motor is open? Doesn't make any sense. Uncontrolled motors kill classes.
I looked into buying a mod-lite unitl I determined that it was going to cost close to the same as a regular modified.

The problem with Ray's deal and the Jet Coupe, and 305 sprint cars and mini sprints etc. isn't the cost of the motor. They are all reasonable, the cost is in the specialty parts. $5000 worth of damage to a sprint car cost the same whether it has a 360 or 305 or 410 or wound up spring for a motor. I understand that some people have $15000+ of disposable income to race. These classes work for them. The issue is that there are people with $4000 of disposable income. I'm no economics guru, but I'd bet there are more with $4000 than $15000. IMHO, the answer isn't front wheel drive or stock cars, at least no for me. My idea for the Super6 Supermodifieds was shot down so quick that the car never even was built. However, I still think it met the needs of more people that the Evernham or Jet Coupe. The Super6 could be built by anyone because you would get the plans for it.
Midget style chassis
200 hp V-6 from front wheel drive car
Production car front suspension
s-10 rear end on leaf springs.
7" wide tires
It would look like a supermodified, yet could be built and maintained from Craigslist. Why spend 8,400 on a focus motor that puts out 200 hp when you could use a minivan motor for $600?
I took a midget and went through it and decided, how can I do the same thing cheaper? Well, this is the car. It would have looked just like swindell's square back midget from the chili bowl in 2009.
Must have been a stupid idea, because I haven't had one single call on them. lol

It's not a dumb idea at all.

Thanks Brian. The only way it will work is with a "National" introduction. I've seen what has happened to "club" classes over time. I think the class could be bigger than that. You are correct, nobody wants to touch it because there is no way to make "real" money at it. A class where you can get your stuff at NAPA only appeals to NAPA. JET has the right answer for tech though. (It makes me mad, they wrote it before I could lol) Tech it with a dyno. I've written an article on Dyno Teching, but haven't put it out there yet.
