Pretty sure they don't allow it

According to my good buddy Chatgpt, silva would only be allowed to put a driver in the car for the start of the race, but they would not allow that driver to compete for a finishing position.  (Take what you believe from AI, but I thought that would be a good place to start)  wink

  • I can not see Silva entering a car knowing at best it would finish 24th. He does not need the $$; and from the sounds of it, Brad is less than 100%.

I'm not sure what the rule is either.  When Rico qualified the car but pulled out of championship night, they put someone else in the car, (crew member?) he took the green flag, and pulled into the pits for 24th place, correct?  I'm not sure if he would have been allowed to continue making laps, or if that was a pre-arranged scenario.   I'd be interested to know the rule since there will be a strong chance it will have to be addressed this year.

When Rico couldn't start the race, Trevor Canales jumped in, started 24th and made 1 or 2 laps IIRC.  He wanted the $10K that came with earning a spot in the A main.  There were those that were unhappy with that, saying Rico should give up his spot or not even try to race his way in, but obviously that didn't happen.  I never heard any mention that Trevor couldn't continue to race, nor was he black flagged.

Another angle is the possible rainout. Richmond gets cancelled, Kyle runs Knoxville. Knoxville gets postponed, Kyle can run it on Sunday. I'd give it a 20 percent chance but it is possible. 900 miles between the two tracks is only 3 hours in a turboprop.

I think this was the hope that Rico had that year that he ran the Truck series and could not race the feature.

Wasn't there a case years ago of a driver being let go during the nationals and the replacement driver was given the cars position in the points? May have been under the older 3day format, and I think it was in one of the lower mains but a case could be made as far as the 57 goes that the "car" earned the position and its to the discretion of the car owner.

Although, I do not see Sweet being the fill in driver. I think it is a case where he does not feel comfortable.
