You think his friends call him that? I doubt it...

Everybody called Lawrence Peter Berra "Yogi".... he & his teammates in the minors were watching a newsreel (back in the day!) at the movies & a Hindu Yogi came on & they all thought he looked like Berra. The name stuck

"Hey Nightmare, hand me that 3/8 socket"????? Can't see it....

You think Majority of the drivers refer anyone to their nicknames? That's just a stretch. Yo Big Cat, did you see how Double Down did in his qualifying run at "Get Your Ass To Kokomo." He timed in so close to QUUUUUUUUUUIIIIIIICK TIIIIIIIIME. And how about Wild Child's Child blowing his tire after contact with Madman. No not winged Madman, nonwing Madman. Pretty sure everyone is on a first name basis on the tour.

To add a few that I didn't see-

Fast Freddie Rahmer

Dynamite Mark Dobmeier

Lady Lightning Paige Polyak

The Gas Man Jack Dover

The Flying Fossil Danny Wood

Donny Schatz used to be called The Kid when he first started racing sprint cars. Also wondering if any can explain how Gio got the nickname Hot Sauce.

The post about how Tyler got the nickname "Sunshine", reminds me of many other nicknames through the years.  I'll start with a few.   The Tempe Tornado (Leland McSpaden), The Shoe (Ron Shuman),  Stormin Norman (Bubby Jones)  The Wild Child (Jac), Boom, Boom (Larry Cannon)  etc.

Here's a few form the San Jose/ Baylands era in CA

Quick Nick Rescino

Big John Viel

The Campbell Comet Howard Kaeding

Tempe Tornado Leland McSpadden

Rim Rider Chuck Gurney

Buckwheat Jimmy Sills

The Rabbit Tom Abreau

Smilin Milan Garret

The Sock Steve Kent
