I like that dual heat idea too... never saw it, tho....

Agree.  I believe that would be the way to stop the heat invert talk and end qualifying for those that hate it.

Can't disagree that this year's Wednesday night show was not real great.  However, it was not the norm for Knoxville-----even though Wednesday night is traditionally more narrow than Thursday night.  I still feel like most of the time it has been about the best format in all of racing.  So, I wouldn't change a thing.

I wouldn't change a thing either. Yes last year was probably the first time that the Wednesday was probably a little bit too narrow but it is not the norm and I am not someone that would like to change things just because it happens once or twice. I know people think that qualifying is emphasized too much but it isn't any more emphasized than the other portions of the program. Each time you hit the track you are required to perform and it is simple math. The higher you finish in each portion the more points you get, add them up and that is where you start. Plus you are given other opportunities to make up for mistakes such as Shane Stewart this year. If you do perform bad in 1 part of the program, you have two others to make up. Then you have Friday to put yourself in a position. If you make it you have 50 laps and Schatz, Schuchart, and even Gravel a couple years ago showed you can move up from the back. And the past 10+ years the people starting in the top 16 deserved to be starting where they started based on their performance.

I used to like Pro "Wrestling" as a kid... could probably get into a nostalgia thing with some of the other Old Farts here...

you can go online and fine some older classic pro wrestling dvds. I have some stuff from the old Memphis, Houston, San Antonio territories from the 70's & 80's. Found 1 from back in the 40's and 50's which will really show you how things have changed. I kinda find it interesting how sprint car racing is somewhat similar to the old style pro wrestling business model. You have the territories such as PA, Ohio, Indiana (wingless), Cali, Midwest, Knoxville, All Stars, IRA, MOWA, FAST, KWS, NOSA, etc  with the Outlaws as your National series. Conversly they had all of the individual wrestling territories with the NWA champion that went all around to all of the other territories kind of like the Outlaws.

I actually like it better now and I have been going longer than most. Yea you had a few guys who could win from back in the field but you went knowing only few guys were likely to win. I prefer not knowing who will win before I go. The racing at Port was better this year than it has been in long time. The last couple years not so great at the special shows but that was because one car was way ahead of everybody else later in the night when slicked off. I even skipped some of  the special shows because of that. Like I said I prefer not knowing who is likely to win before I go. The big money teams disappearing are missed when travelers show up but the weeking shows are better. I have been going 60+ years and I know they were not all barn burners back then. You just remember those ones longer.

Somebody that gets it ! I've been trying to say that for a few years but the newer, restless fans still like to say how great it was "back in the day".

I can't disagree. I like it now and I liked it then. Most races I went to this year, were at least decent. There were a couple of snoozers but it was still 100% better than any day at work or being buried in snow up to my ass in mid January. Some people are never happy. People who weren't happy because "anybody but Rahmer" are now bitching because "too many winners off the front row." Whatever comes next, they'll bitch about that too. It never ends. Sprint cars are awesome. They were awesome 50 years ago, 30 years ago, 15 years ago, 5 years ago and they're awesome right now. 10 years from now, they'll still be awesome & there will still be people who go to the track every weekend and turn over stone after stone in search of something to bitch about.
