good thing   jack hewitt  didnt win it..........

Haha. Good one! Good thing it wasn’t the great Jack Hewitt that was in the 49 and they interviewed him After the heat instead of Sweet!  Enter one of the best Hewitt interviews ever...”And he can kiss my dick! And if I find him he’s going to!”  I’m fine, cars tore up though.

Omg, never thought I'd see some oversensitive sallies complaining about profanity on a dirt racing board.

Sounds like some sourpuss SHIT to me. Get a grip. Lol

Brad Sweet's victory celebration was very disappointing. I am sure that WOO, World Racing Group, NAPA Auto Parts and KKR  are very upset with Sweet and his ghetto mouthed celebration. Sweet's greatest victory and largest payday was tainted and will forever be a thorn in his career at this level of sprint car racing. He obviously isn't mature enough to grasp the totalaty of his accomplishment. He stated earlier this week that Schatz has competition now ! Really Brad, how many total victories and WOO Championshipos do you have under your belt ? I am sure that Schatz doesn't feel threatened by you or your mouth ! Schatz is a class act, like most of the guys out there. In closing, I sincerely hope that the phones will be ringing at WOO, World Racing Group, NAPA Auto Parts and KKR concerning Sweet's verbage in his post victory interview. But then again, we'll see if the money rules over the whole deal.

I couldn't argee more!  It was very unprofessional behavior no matter what anyone says and a real turn off.

I understand that there is a time and place for using certain language and when someone is really happy and or sad it's ok to say words like "shit". I mean give Brad a break, he is thrilled with his win and just expressing himself! He is a great guy and in the heat of the moment you don't really think about what you say or do because you are excited! As someone who has watched him race locally in CA when he was a young teen I am thrilled about his successes this year. Smile

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

People probably won't like my response here but I'll say it anyway.  First off the words he used don't bother me.  I've said them myself, my kids have heard them.  My only complaint is, it doesn't make him look very profesional.  I get the emotions, I get that cuss words don't offend a lot of people.  But as this thread shows there are people that it does offend.  Ultimately I would love for sprint car racing to get the kind of exposure NASCAR does.  Could an interview like this affect getting sponsorship or races being broadcast on national TV?  I don't know but that's my only concern.  These large corporations don't have any shortage of people asking them for money for whatever reason.  Could Napa or any other sponsor or potential sponsor look at this and say they don't want to be associated with sprint car racing?  Could a TV network say there's no way they're going to show this on TV based on how the drivers talk in victory lane?  I don't know but I hope not.  I also understand that this is broadcast on PPV but anyone can now view the interview on youtube without any kind of restrictions.

I've seen PLENTY of NASCAR races where profanity made it live.

The people WHINING about it on here complaining it's unprofessionial, seem more BUTT HURT that he won then anything else.

If you have children and Brad Sweet's language scarred them for life, well, those kids have more issues then that to deal with. Like maybe being SHELTERED from reality. lol

Any kid with a cell or pc these days, can read, see, and hear FAR WORSE.

Sports are ALL about emotions, good and bad. It's called REALITY.

I hope the guy that started this thread was joking.  Not a fan of the "Orange Cat" but after the win Saturday I was happy for him and enjoyed the post race interview!

Dirtvision didnt censor it  ecause he caught himself and didnt say fuck. And to the people who are offended because their kids heard a swear word....get real. Stop being so damn sensitive and uptight.  If you're worried about your kids hearing a grown man say shit, then you have problems and I'm glad I'm not your kid.  Christ people are so soft.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s when television networks wouldn't allow hell or damn and dropping the F bomb would have got a fine and left ruined careers in it's wake.  My own experience in the military in the 60s and 70s taught me every word and I learned to use them.  Hooking up a plane to the catapult and having them turn up while you're still under them knowing if you exit at the wrong angle you could get sucked into an intake will pucker your asshole and teach you how to express yourself in colorful ways.

In spit of my my background with colorful language and not being a church goer for the past quarter century I dont think that even a trunkated mother f'er in victory lane is the way we want this sport represented to the general public.  I'm always reading about what a great family sport this is so it's an oxymoron to even be having this discussion.  There are a lot of young children at these races and I don't think it's wise to use that kind of language in victory lane.  Do we really want Sprint Car racing to be known as the sport that starts the evening with prayer and ends the night with "mother f'er" blaring over the PA?  I don't think thats a very high bar to shoot for and I don't think my opinion that we should maintain some level of dignity makes me a snowflake or whatever other names I'll be called for having this opinion.

PS,.the heathen arguing with the Christians Hosers that drivers shouldn't say mother fucker in victory lane and I'm the bad guy for wanting to see them not use profanity.  What strange Twilight Zone am I living in?

I think the topic originated from a concern for the image of the sport more than the protection of children's ears. My kids hear obceneties from many sources so it isnt that which I am concerned with. It is the fact they now associate the ghetto talk with the sport I most enjoy., at least more than they did a week ago.

To begin with, as a 76 year old Vietnam Veteran I am quite amused by the terms of pussified, pussies, sensitive, snowflake, pansies and told to lighten up, referred to as an old man who yells at clouds, cry baby offended told to chill out, need a thicker skin , referred to as an oversensitive sallie and last but not least a sourpuss shit. I will never be apologetic for respecting women and children as long as they deserve it. This means your wives, children and your mothers ! If that offends you, so be it ! Anyone who does know me would laugh their ass off knowing you people label me as as a pussy and all the other descriptions that I referred to above. Let's be clear here, I have and do use the F bomb and middle finger as well in guy conversation and etc. I don't make it a point to do so to women and children or in their presense. That was how I was raised ! If it is so appropriate for you to do that, it is your choice but i think it is a poor one. By the way Stan, thank you for your service and sacrifices.

Here is what I don’t get... You don’t want to sit beside someone that is slinging nothing but profanity at a sporting event. I get and understand that, but what is it with people that go off like this over “shit”. Do you people not realize what it is like in the pits or on the benches?

Not to mention people create more of a situation by acting this way than just saying “that was bad” and moving on.

You don't think it makes him look professional?  What is your handle in this forum, now that's professional, what a hypocrite.  I don't want sprint cars to get the exposure NASCAR does, we are a niche sport and with the PPV's available these days we are just fine.  NASCAR has ruined themselves and they did it from the inside, their days are done.  I think the last race that I glanced at had 38 cars in it, they used to start 43 and some didn't make the show, it's falling faster than a new Brides panties on wedding night, oops can I say that?

I understand where people are coming from and I hope they're more so concerned about dirt racing's image rather then exposing children to curse words. I would agree that I don't want sprint car drivers looking like classless hillbillies either. But to me, Brad's celebration felt like it was just pure emotion. Kind of like when David Ortiz addressed Red Sox fans at Fenway park over the PA system after the Boston marathon bombing. Two different types of emtion but neverthelss nothing to be frowned upon in either scenario.

So come on guys... He said "Holy shit" and "Mother Effin." He censored himself and didnt blantenly drop an F-bomb. Let's not take away from what was an awesome weekend/night for sprint car racing.

Thanks for casting a vote for integrity and decency FLyman3.  I thank you for your service as well and you know exactly where I'm coming from.  If using the word f*ck made me manly Mr. Universe would be shaking in his gym shorts in my presence.  wink

But seriously, I've got a wife, a son and three daughters and seven grandkids.  Sometimes my eight year old grandson will let out an f-bomb, his dad is a singer in a hard rock band and they practice at his house so yeah, a lot of the kids know those words.  I still don't swear around the grandkids and certainly wouldn't in a public setting like victory lane where there are sponsors and people that might take offense.  Every 305 driver in the country heard that and the more impressionable among them can't wait to spout out a profanity laced interview the next time they win $300 or whatever those crates pay to win.

If we want to be forever locked in as a niche sport that advertising executives won't touch with a ten foot pole I think we've found a way to seal our fate.  wink

My god it’s just a word LMAO y’all acting like he killed a cat in victory lane. I guess he needs burned at the stake, and thousands of children everywhere are now scarred for life, they’ll never be the same because they heard a word.

Ive seen no outrage for Denny Hamlin saying the same thing yesterday.

First of all, Thank you for your service.

Sometimes you have to bite your lip on some issues in life Flyman, such as this one, I'm pretty sure kids have heard
far worse than what Brad said on live broadcast on the playground that you and I don't know about, and its not my business to go and make sure it gets corrected or never said again, thats a losing battle. Point is, we all get caught up in the emotions and words slip out with kids, women, grandma all within earshot.

Great, you were raised not to say bad things in women and kids presence, hey so was I but they slip out from time to time, am I a bad guy? maybe to you. Enjoy life my friend.

Did anyone complain when Jason Johnson won? I'm sure someone got offended. You throw a mic in front of someone right after climbing out of the car after winning one of the biggest races of the year....COME ON MANNN.

Be thankful that we as dirt fans get to witness raw emotion like this and that the WOO hasn't succumbed to the cookie cutter image that many larger corporations turn into.

I just think it's hilarious that the morality police are going to focus on profanity used by a driver who just took home the biggest payday in the sport's history.

Let's just ignore the fact that as I was leaving 5 minutes after this display of profanity I saw at least 100 people so banged up they couldn't walk straight, and at least 5 so banged up they couldn't even stand up.  I then watched those same people hop on or in golf carts, in the backs of pickup trucks (one adorned with a few spray-painted profanities) to go back to their campers and a good portion of them hopped behind the wheel and provided much excitement going down 118 for us.  Dozens of kids under the age of 3 passed out by the B-main with no hearing protection because Mom and Dad can afford a ticket to the Kings Royal but not a babysitter apparently.

There were enough aluminum cans left on the ground at Eldora to account for the increased winner's purse and then some lol.  I inhaled enough second hand smoke my wife thought I took up the habit again when I pulled my dirty clothes out of my bag.

But yeah, let's sic the sprint car morality police on the guy who just had the most exciting minute of his life.
