WoO didn't sanction Nationals from 2006-2011.  It's been a WoO sanctioned race again since 2012.

It probably helped when the WoO realized that the WoO needed the Nationals more than the Nationals needed the WoO and agreed to behave accordingly.........

Johnny,  I have the article when Steve and Sammy both were declared winners at Butler.  I do know Doty was leading in the bowers coal 28D car and had a flat. It would have been Brads first win.

What's the date?   (Not doubting it may have been announced that way at the time, then changed later.  I just have no record of it. . .)

I'm just amazed at the numbers for Steve. I am also surprised to see Shatz behind Sammy. I thought for sure he was second in the books. I don't know if he has a chance to reach that goal ? The drivers on tour today can and do make it a lot tuffer for multiple win seasons.

Now the All Stars can go back and pick up the All Star winners from 1970 and 1973.

Anybody have those records??

We'll have to wait and see about the tuffer part......If Gravel and Sweet and some of those guys reach into the 60's and 70's with WoO feature win numbers then yeh. But until then, give credit where credit is due for those in the top 15-20 for their accomplishments. Gravel is now in to the top 20 and Sweet will get there real soon. Those guys above them in the total count list put their totals together against the very best and have some pretty impressive numbers. And some had part time WoO careers. Plus Steve and Sammy still have about 10 more WoO years and some heavier race seasons than Schatz.

Steve is the greatest sprint car driver of all time. The numbers don't lie and are impressive any way you want to spin it.

To those involved in compiling the new win list....

In addition to adding the prelim wins to the official list, did you adjust other win totals as well. I know a few winners were taken off the list, but in looking at Daryn Pittman, Johnny Herrera, Ron Shuman and a couple of others, when I add my old win total (that I likely found on the WoO web page or somewhere else on the internet) to the prelim wins added, I don't get what the new official win list is.

For example, in an old list I had used as a base, Johnny Herrera had 12 WoO wins, the new total shows 7 prelim wins, but a new total of 17 total wins. Were 2 wins taken away, or perhaps the list I was using was inaccurate.

Not a big deal, just curious.
