I'd be willing to bet Chucky throws a bunch more money into the payout last minute. Things are going to get real interesting! It doesn't look like many traveling teams that came to nationals are taking the bait. Is there an ASCS race that weekend?

Don't know who is right and wrong in this Badlands vs. WOO debacle.  Don't know who is right and wrong in the Badlands vs. Knoxville sage.  Don't know who is right and who is wrong in the McCarl vs. Badlands argument.  But I will tell you this:  When one of my best friends, who has been married and divorced 4 times, starts complaining about his new girlfriend being a bitch, I say "did you ever consider that it might be you?"

?  Just saying.  With all of the negative publicity this track and its owner have gotten this season, I have lost interest in travelling there next summer.  I had really looked forward to seeing the facility (it looks beautiful) but now have a bad taste in my mouth just reading all the negative crap week in and week out.

See you at Wilmot next year Maddog!

I was just about to post the exact same thing and I saw you beat me to it. 100% dead on. Look at all the bullshit going on out there. Problems with Tod Quiring, problem with the WoO, problems with Terry McCarl......all these different issues with one common denominator.

Seems to me without the big name outlaw teams he'll be lowering the payout not raising it. Either way things aren't going perfectly up there- i don't think he's had more than twentysome 41 cars since the night he had the car count posted on the scoreboard 38vs kville 20ish or whatever it was. Carma kinda.

I wouldn't plan on a for sale sign anytime soon, Chuck has put waay too much money in the facility to get anyone to pay him that kind of money for it. The Rubins got lucky when he bought Huset's, I don't see too many people standing in line to buy race tracks. I think he will make some changes next year, don't have a clue what they are. There are quite a few rumors, even one that he has bought another track. Bad deal about the outlaw's not running the gold cup, I'm pretty sure i'll go anyway.

Apparently the WoO figured out and refused to comply with that joker's demands... I.e... Elevated pit pass prices above the WoO contracted rates. So there will be no WoO sanctioning at this epic failure.

Live 9 1/2 hours from badlands. Attended opening night, came home with an open mind and high expectations.  Made plans months ago, to attend Gold Cup.  Looking forward to watching McCarl race winged and non winged.  Only get to see WoO and USAC a few times.  Guess I will stay at home now! Thanks Chuckie you never get a second chance to make that first impression!  Dirt track promoters don't need to be dirt balls.

Here's the official statement from the track.

Most likely had the crooked pawn shop and pay day loan lawers draw up the statement.

I knew this whole deal of a payday load turd owning a track would not pay out....

Just added extra salt and butter to my popcorn, gonna sit back and enjoy this.

I tell it like I see it.

I honestly thought it would take a couple years for things to go this bad at the Wastelands but I think its time to restart Chuck's apocalypse countdown.

In other news, Chuck might want to pull the commercials off of KSFY Tv out of Sioux Falls,  they're still running the Rock N Roll Gold Cup commercials advertising this as a WoO race and showing TMAC.

Exactly!!!

First it was the NSL "backing out of a verbal agreement" and now it is the WoO "backing out of a verbal agreement". Time for the Chuckie backers to wake up and see what some of us knew from the beginning. Goodbye to one of the best dirt tracks in the country and hello to the "World's Greatest Outdoor Concert Venue".

The story is correct. I got an email at 5:35 pm today stating that the Outlaws and Badlands could not reach an agreement on a contract. Which leads me to believe that Badlands has been advertizing that this was an Outlaw show and it actually wasn't. Which in my books would be false advertizing. I wonder how many people have bought tickets thinking it was a WOO show and it never was. I wonder if Badlands will refund their money if requested.   Glen Murra

I got an email 2 minutes ago Stating Apparently you still say some of the dumbest things.

Of course we will refund money for anyone who bought Gold Cup tickets that feel they need a refund because of today's announcement.

Our policy at BMS this season has always been to refund any tickets purchased in advance for any reason.  The last thing we want is for a customer to pay for a ticket they do not want to use.

The whole NSL Knoxville Vs Badlands has increased the purses which was long over due.As far as the WOO I honestly dont know if I would rank over 6/7 drivers in my top 20 .The days of Sammy,Steve, and Wolfgang are long gone and all the rules and new ownership have taken away from once strong image they had.The name WOO is their best part as they have made it hard with all the travel to make as much as the midwest traveling teams. Many of the name drivers such as Lasoski,Brown,Madsen,McCarl,Blaney,Swindell and others have as much drawing power and have been with WOO just now are true Outlaws running where they can make the most or in most cases lose the least as sponsorship and Tshirts are what makes it happen.Schatz is the face of the Outlaws right now and he is the best but many teams have been able to beat him if things are equal. The GoldCup will have plenty of top drivers. As much as they would like to the WOO does not sanction the Nationals.Cappy kept them out so they didnt get a cut as it goes to the racers.

So, let me see if I understand this correctly.  You don't want anything to do with a series that has only 6 or 7 top tier drivers but would gladly return to the glory days when 3 guys would come in and whoop the locals?  How does that make it the glory days?

So not only will the WoO not sanction it and likely will not allow their drivers to participate in it, it is also highly unlikely that Lasoski, Brown, McCarl, or Sammy Swindell will be at Wastelands.   The only one that would go if he wasn't kicked out is McCarl.

So what other "top drivers" are you expecting to be there?

The All Stars race at Williamsgrove on 8-19 so that kinda rules out both the Posse and the All Stars.   The NSL doesn't have a race scheduled, although it isn't hard to think an NSL/WoO race at a track that normal runs on Friday night might get announced soon. An NSL points race would keep a few more away.   The ASCS guys don't have anything scheduled for the 19th but they do race in Missouri on the 20th and 21st.   Nascar has races next weekend so that kind of rules out those guys.

Dobmier for sure has to love this recent announcement.   He now has about a 50% chance of winning it.

Any chance of making it to LaSalle on Aug 27th?  Then Sunday at Angell Park?  It would make for a nice swan song as far as races go for me this year.  Let me know.....

So many of these guys on here suffer from tunnel vision and only can think of Sammy, Steve and Wolfie.  Great drivers in their own right, but let it go guys.....It's the same thing as some Bear fans bringing up the vaunted defense of 1985.  That was 31 years ago, get over it.  Times change.....

And I am in no way saying that those days of Sammy, Steve and Wolf were not the glory days.  But using the argument that there was more competition back then vs. now?  Silly!  Back then, 3 guys came to town and your locals had NO chance.  Now, 14 guys roll into town, your local CAN win, and if not, there are 8-10 WOO guys that can win.  Even the favorite (though some think he is a juggernaut) is not even close to as dominant as that 11 car used to be.

Bear's D of '85?  What else do we have to hang on to?  Even my dad is too young to remember Sid Luckman!!!  Smile

Cannot make La Salle.  I put Angell Park on the calendar for now but would have to drive home after for work in the morning. So that one is still a tossup.  Will let you know!!
