Initial schedule, tentative... All Stars will be there for sure, don't be suprised if Outlaws are too.

Lernerville has always had the problem of pulling central pa cars.  You may see rahmer, but I do doubt it,  DD may make the tow, Randy Wolfe is a possibility.  Mark Smith doubtful, Wagners, the 69k never going to happen. So for a less of a purse, it's not going to work.

I know Lance Dewease and Logan Wagner have won at Lernerville before. You're right that not many central Pa guys go out there anymore. That might change for a good paying race - sans outlaws.

A similar purse ?  Why not pay a really good purse in hopes of luring some of the central pa guys ? The all stars do put on a good show, but no matter how you cut it there not the woo. Lernerville, you screwed the fans on this one.

IMO a good paying race that doesn't have a WOO sanction is a very good thing for sprint car racing. I hope it works out for them.

The Summer Nationals pay a total a main purse of $82k vs Lernervilles $79k, so that's 3 races without doing a lot of research. Nationally what was once a borderline crown jewel is now a race that barely makes a blip.

This article (https://www.worldofoutlaws.com/sprintcars/world-of-outlaws-stars-series-invaders-eye-25000-payday-at-lernerville-speedway-in-july/) says the purse is over 85k, which is why I didnt mention the summer nats as being higher. And again, none of that is relevant. The discussion wasn't what the Silver Cup was, or should be. But in the grand scheme of sprint car racing, a 25k to win, 80k+ purse is a good purse where very few single day shows can match or are higher

Unfortunately we're how many track manager's and owners since Don Martin's passing?  The place still has healthier car and fan counts than any track in the region.

Sharon (at least sprint wise) has had better car counts since they started running the sprints again on a somewhat regular basis 4-5 years ago (also helps they pay 3k to win and an overall much better purse than Lernerville).

Lernerville will soon be fighting to stay alive. The area surrounding the track keeps growing yearly. Residential and commercial values are steadily on the rise. I'm not sure who owns the property the track sits on. I am sure the Martin family has nothing to do with the daily operation of the facilities. It would not surprise me to learn that they lease the property.

Deterrents for Central PA teams travelling to Lernerville are A) that it's roughly a 4 hour trip for most teams B) there's usually a 410 show at one of their home tracks on the same night or right after, and C) taking the PA Turnpike there and back is huge $$ for that trip.....

When in doubt, gas it!!

As a 45+ year loyal spectator, let me try to answer a few things posted.

The Tomson family operates and may even own the speedway.  Not sure, but I believe they own it.  The Tomson family is a local family that have deep ties to the area and own a scrap metal business, the old Brackenridge Heights Country Club and may own other interests.  While the area is growing, I am speculating that there is the possibility that they will be holding on to Lernerville for at least a little while......at least I hope so.  They have made improvements to the facility and have shown a more than a casual interest in the speedway.  There have been safety improvements, restroom upgrades (still need to address the turn 1 restroom), live broadcasts with video screens at the speedway, Lernerville TV, greater enhancement of local business advertising, and maybe more.  So, I want to believe that the speedway is in good hands.  They have made some great things happen since taking over the place.

As far as the weekly purse, Lernerville has always hung its hat on featuring the top 3 divisions (410 sprints, Late Models and Big Block Modifieds, in addition to pro stocks) every Friday Night from mid April into September.  By having a regular show of these 3 high dollar division as as well as pro stocks, there is only so much money to go around.  I understand that fact even though I would love to see the purse be higher for each division to attract more cars and higher quality.  But make no mistake, the speedway has its fair share of outstanding drivers in each division.  I would not want to see any of these divisions eliminated as I have always enjoyed the unique variety of each division.  I have grown up with this and would not trade it for any other show.  They have always run a quality program that is quick moving and the Tomson's have done an excellent job!  Lernerville is the No. 1 track in Western Pa. and some will boast (me included) that this stretches beyond Western Pa.

While I will tip my hat to the Tomson's to this point, I will also say that bringing the Lucas Oil Late Model Series on board with the Firecracker may have seemed like a good idea ($50,000 to win compared to $30,000), but the consequence is not having an outlaw late model show or more importantly 2 world of outlaw sprint shows (including the long time partnership with the Silver Cup) and this is a mistake.  I hope this gets resolved REAL QUICK!  Time will tell how this all plays out.

I actually agree with you on this. There needs to be more high paying shows outside of the WoO. It shouldn't just be Central PA that does this.

The All Stars should step it up as well, still far too many $6k to win shows on their calendar.

Maybe they can get their water truck working next year also.  Lernerville and Sharon do nothing but pack it hard every week unless the outlaws are coming.

I didn't ask for diddly, I was stating a possibility to another question posted. Thank you for your quality post, I do appreciate the inside scoop from a local from Lernerville. I was there a couple of times and liked the place.

That is my complaint about Port Royal.  Pack it tight without enough water and it is an asphalt surface at best.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
