As to parking, the Chamber of Commerce has parking in the park a couple blocks south of track.  Pay as you go is like $15 a day.  They also offer reserved parking on a paved lot with a reserved spot # if you do all 4 weeks & pay in advance.  They would have info about that sometime in the spring.

There are lots of other lots around.  I have done the Chamber lot as it is nice to have a paved spot as well as a guaranteed spot each day depending on what time you get to the track.

Lots of locals will let you park on their driveways or lawns for a small fee too (cars, not sure about RVs)

Bought tickets for myself and two buddies. First timers all three of us. Super excited to be there this summer. We did Eldora 2018. Will be fun to compare. Eldora will be tough to beat.

How many days you plan attending? Curious I always ask the 1st timers this question. If it's 2,4, 7 or all 10 days? If it's 2 it will be 4 next year, if 4 then 7 next year, if its 7, it will definitely be 10. Guess what I'm saying is once you come once , you come back for more and more every year. I've attending every Nationals since forever.  Enjoy as it's an experience.

Chariton IA is actually a good place to stay. It is about 25 minutes south on highway 14 and has hotels and places to eat.
I've seen top teams staying there. Real easy drive to and from Knoxville. The parade and vendor stands, sprint car hall of fame gives one something to do. You don't really see teams working on cars at the track like back in the 1960's-70s-early 80's.  Many other towns like Newton, Albia, Indianola, Pella, Oskaloosa are similar. Plus its not that bad driving from anywhere in Des Moines which has many hotel and resturant choices. I wouldn't wait too long to make plans as the Iowa State Fair is generally in that time frame and it is well attended. It is not at all unusuall to see a trailer or two backed up to some farmers machine shed.out in the country. There is a good restuarant in Williamson IA called the Williamson Tavern. Huge hamburgers and other sandwiches. Every time I have ate lunch there there are usually some racing teams and good conversation and food.

Tickets purchased for all 4 days of the Nationals. Currently debating 7 days to catch Capitani and Osky Front Row challenge. I'm leaning that way. Haven't locked down place to stay for the week yet. Will start working on that soon.

Question: Will I need to purchase tickets for Capitani and Front Row well ahead of time?

No Need. I would get there a bit early to Monday's Osky race if you go as that can fill up pretty good.

Yes, I second that. The Cappy is probably my favorite show of the year. You have 80ish cars, a relaxed atmosphere, Wade and Tony (especially Wade) breaking balls on the commentary, a smaller crowd, $20 tickets, Dingus across the street, parties that go until beyond dawn.... for me, its always a great kickoff to fantastic week.
